Starfield Update 1.9.67 Patch Notes
Bethesda has released a new patch for Starfield, bringing with it support for the latest supersampling technologies: AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) and Intel Xe Super Sampling (XeSS). This update marks the first time Starfield officially supports these technologies, offering players more options to boost performance and visual fidelity.
New Supersampling Technologies
- AMD FSR 3: FSR 3 is AMD’s latest upscaling technology that uses temporal reconstruction techniques to generate additional frames, leading to smoother gameplay and higher frame rates. It offers a significant performance boost with minimal impact on image quality.
- Intel XeSS: XeSS is Intel’s answer to NVIDIA’s DLSS, using AI to upsample images and improve performance. Like FSR 3, XeSS aims to deliver smoother gameplay with higher frame rates.
These additions follow the release of a beta version on Steam that allowed players to test FSR 3 ahead of its official release. Prior to this update, players relying on mods to access these technologies will now have native support for FSR 3 and XeSS in Starfield.
Fixes and Improvements
In addition to new features, the 1.9.67 patch addresses several issues and improvements:
Graphics
- Added support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3) (PC)
- Added support for Intel Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) (PC)
- Fixed an issue that could cause clouds to vibrate when using DLSS performance mode (PC)
- Fixed minor visual artifacts that could appear when aiming with a weapon or task swapping.
Stability
- Changed how FormIDs are freed when loading saves. This should improve stability for saves that have visited many locations.
- Fixed a crash that could happen when making changes to the ship that required all items to be moved to the cargo bay in the Ship Builder menu.
Miscellaneous
- Reverted a change that caused the data menu to open when taking screenshots with F12 (PC)
- Fixed an issue causing the resolution scale to reset to 1.0 when switching from Fullscreen to Windowed mode when using DLSS (PC)
With these updates, players can now experience a smoother and more visually appealing Starfield journey. Whether choosing FSR 3, XeSS, or sticking with DLSS, Starfield offers multiple options to fine-tune your gameplay experience and enjoy the vastness of space with enhanced performance and visual fidelity.
