Best Zelda: TotK Temple Order?

Start With the Wind Temple First

The Wind Temple is generally considered the best place to begin your temple journey in Tears of the Kingdom. It’s not just about the order in which the story unfolds, but also about the natural progression of the game and the side quests you’ll encounter along the way. The Wind Temple is located in Rito Village, and the journey there will lead you past key characters and locations that unlock valuable opportunities for your early game.

  • Impa & the Geoglyphs Quest: In Hyrule Ridge, you’ll encounter Impa, who will initiate the “Impa & the Geoglyphs” quest. This quest is similar to the “Captured Memories” side quest in Breath of the Wild and involves deciphering ancient symbols.
  • Hestu: Further along the path to Rito Village, you’ll find Hestu, the Korok who allows you to upgrade your inventory. Helping him will grant you the ability to trade your Korok Seeds for expanded inventory space, a valuable resource early in the game.
  • Tulin of Rito Village Quest: Before you can enter the Wind Temple, you’ll need to complete the “Tulin of Rito Village” quest. This quest introduces you to the Rito people and their unique abilities.

Take on the Fire Temple Second

After completing the Wind Temple, you’ll naturally gravitate towards the Fire Temple located in Goron City. The journey to Goron City will bring you back through Lookout Landing, where you’ll be directed towards Death Mountain and eventually to the Goron region.

  • Yunobo of Goron City Quest: Just like the Rito Village quest, you’ll need to complete the “Yunobo of Goron City” quest before entering the Fire Temple. This quest introduces you to the Gorons and their unique abilities, providing you with another perspective on the game world.
  • Fire Temple Walkthrough: The Fire Temple is a challenging dungeon, and it’s recommended that you refer to a walkthrough for tips on solving puzzles and defeating bosses.

Take on the Water Temple Third

The Water Temple, located in Zora’s Domain, is a natural next step after conquering the Fire Temple. Once you complete the Fire Temple, you’ll be directed back to Lookout Landing, where you’ll be given hints to head south towards the Zora region. The journey to Zora’s Domain will also lead you to valuable side quests and opportunities.

  • Sludge-Covered Statue Quest: You’ll encounter a group of Zora near a sludge-filled pond, kickstarting the “Sludge-Covered Statue” quest. This quest will introduce you to the Zora and their challenges.
  • Sidon of the Zora Quest: The “Sidon of the Zora” quest is necessary before you can enter the Water Temple. This quest involves helping Prince Sidon, and it provides valuable insight into the Zora culture.
  • Water Temple Walkthrough: Like the Fire Temple, the Water Temple is a challenging dungeon. Refer to a walkthrough for strategies on completing puzzles and overcoming bosses.

Take on the Lightning Temple Last

The Lightning Temple is located in Gerudo Town and serves as the final dungeon in the Regional Phenomena questline. While you can technically tackle it at any point, it’s recommended to complete the other three temples first. This order allows you to unlock the full potential of your abilities and knowledge before taking on the Lightning Temple.

  • Riju of Gerudo Town Quest: Once you arrive in Gerudo Town, you’ll need to complete the “Riju of Gerudo Town” quest before entering the Lightning Temple. This quest will introduce you to Riju and the Gerudo people.
  • Lightning Temple Walkthrough: The Lightning Temple is known for its complex puzzles and challenging boss battles. Refer to a walkthrough to guide you through this final dungeon.
