What’s Item Level in Lost Ark?
In Lost Ark, every piece of gear you obtain comes with an item level. This number determines your character’s power and what endgame content you can participate in. The higher your item level, the more activities you can enjoy and the higher content tiers you can clear.
When you begin, items have a low item level. As you level your character, you’ll acquire items with higher item levels, providing your character with stronger stats and even ability-centric upgrades in the endgame.
You’ll start the endgame at approximately item level 250—the initial threshold for completing Chaos Dungeons and Guardian Raids. Through the honing system and endgame rewards, you can raise your item level to access T3 content, Lost Ark’s most challenging content currently available.
How to Upgrade Your Item Level Fast in Lost Ark
Run Chaos Dungeons
Chaos Dungeons are the first endgame content you unlock after level 50. They are also a great way to equip your character with new gear, allowing you to access the rest of Lost Ark’s endgame content. To unlock Chaos Dungeons, reach level 50 and travel to the continent of Vern. Continue the main story quests (indicated by the blue globe icon) until you reach Vern Castle and unlock Chaos Dungeons and the honing system.
Once you’ve unlocked Chaos Dungeons, you’re set! Completing these dungeons, which are timed scenarios where you defeat waves of enemies, will reward you with item level 302 gear that can be further upgraded. Even better, many of the upgrade materials you’ll need (Harmony Shards, Harmony Leapstones, Destruction Stone Fragments, and Guardian Stone Fragments) are also obtained from Chaos Dungeons, making them a very efficient way to level up your gear.
The downside is that you can only complete two Chaos Dungeons per day. Also, the loot drops are random, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll get a full set of gear right away. It might take several runs over a few days to collect a full set, but you’ll also be accumulating a lot of the upgrade materials you’ll need for later.
Use Gear Transfer
Lost Ark lets you transfer item levels from one piece of gear to another using the Gear Transfer feature. You can access this feature by clicking the “Gear Transfer” button at the same upgrade NPC. This feature allows you to transfer the level from your current gear onto a similar item, essentially “upgrading” it.
Gear Transfer works from a lower tier to a higher tier as well. For example, when moving from Tier 1 to Tier 2, you can transfer your T1 items to provide a +1 to your T2 items. Additionally, this works within a tier for item rarity. For example, if you currently have all blue gear and you finally obtain epic gear, you can transfer your blue gear onto your epic gear.
Upgrade Your Accessories
Upgrading your accessories can significantly boost your item level. Accessories play a crucial role in your character’s overall stats and damage output. Consider the following strategies to boost your accessories:
- Acquire higher-level accessories through dungeon runs, quests, or crafting.
- Upgrade your accessories using enhancement materials obtained from various in-game activities.
- Don’t forget to socket gems into your accessories to further enhance their effects!
Seek Powerful Set Bonuses
Set bonuses offer significant benefits to your character by equipping multiple pieces of gear from the same set. Some set bonuses provide passive bonuses, while others grant special abilities or effects. To maximize your item level, focus on acquiring and equipping gear sets that offer meaningful bonuses.
