Rare mounts are much more common in World of Warcraft in a few hours. The exact details are now known.
Starting tomorrow, July 2, 2025, a special event will start in World of Warcraft. The “Abundance of the Collector” event ensures that you get significantly more old loot with rarity value. Mounts in particular are in demand here. Blizzard spoke in advance of an increase of “up to 10x” of the original drop chance and in one case even an increase of “25x”.
What this looks like in concrete numbers was not clear until now – but now Blizzard has finally explained the details.
What did Blizzard reveal?
In a short video on YouTube, Blizzard has now published more concrete figures about the event, explaining the drop chances for mounts and rare transmog. The video promises:
- A smooth +5% increase to all mounts that could drop before “Dragonflight”.
- A +5% increase to select items (such as Windseeker’s Shackles or Azzinoth’s Warglaives).
- Double the amount of transmog items in dungeons and raids before Dragonflight.
Players are confused by math: “How is +5% a tenfold increase?”
The numbers are causing some confusion in the comments, for example on wowhead or in the subreddit. However, this is probably mainly due to a misunderstanding or a lack of math skills.
Many feel “lied to”, because a tenfold increase cannot be an increase of 5%. But I am confident that such claims will not appear in our comments.
However, the vast majority of people seem to be happy about this big bonus. After all, an increase of +5% is a drastically increased chance in the end, which should ensure that you are much more likely to get hold of some of the most coveted mounts. There is still no guarantee on the super-rare mounts – but it probably won’t be easier than in the coming weeks.
What does this mean in concrete figures?
With a few examples, we want to illustrate how strong the buff is and how much it increases the probabilities.
| Mount / Weapon | Raid | Old drop chance | Event Drop Chance |
| Invincible | Icecrown Citadel 25 Heroic | 1 % | 6 % |
| Ashes of Al’ar | Stormkeep’s Fortress | 2 % | 7 % |
| Mimiron’s Head | Ulduar | 1 % | 6 % |
| Riftworm | Tomb of Sargeras | 0,21 % | 5,21 % |
| Warglaives of Azzinoth | The Black Temple | 5 % | 10 % |
So if you still needed a few good reasons to simply visit old instances and raids again, you should now have the perfect incentive. Maybe you’ll get hold of some of the rarest mounts that only very few people in the WoW community own. Buy WOW Gold today to gear up faster and make those farming runs even more efficient!
