In Marvel’s Midnight Suns, you can assemble your own team of superheroes and use their unique abilities to battle enemies in a thrilling card-based combat system. To create the most powerful decks, you need to collect more cards. Here are some ways to unlock new cards and expand your options.
Get Cards from Gamma Coils
Gamma Coils are special rewards that you earn for completing certain missions. To find out which missions offer Gamma Coils, check the Mirror Table in the abbey. Look for the red cylindrical icon labeled ‘Gamma Coil’.
- Bring the heroes you want to unlock cards for on the mission.
- Gamma Coils provide you with a selection of cards from the heroes who participated in the mission.
- If a hero wasn’t on the mission, their cards won’t be available in the selection.
Complete Hero Ops
Hero Ops are side missions that unlock after completing a few story missions. These missions allow you to send a hero out on their own for a day to gain experience and acquire new cards. Hero Ops are a great way to focus on strengthening a specific hero’s deck.
- Heroes sent on Hero Ops cannot join your team for other missions during their absence.
- You will need Intel to send heroes on Hero Ops, which can be obtained from Intel Caches found in certain missions.
- The rarity of the card a hero receives upon completing a Hero Op depends on the rarity of the mission itself.
Unlock the Book of Vishanti
Dr. Strange can help you unlock a powerful tool for acquiring more cards: the Book of Vishanti. To unlock the Book of Vishanti, you need to complete a few missions with Dr. Strange in your squad and then research artifacts in the Forge.
- Reach Research Level 3 in the Forge to unlock the Book of Vishanti.
- The Book of Vishanti allows you to duplicate cards you already have by spending Attack, Skill, or Heroic Essence.
- This is an excellent way to upgrade cards with abilities that you really want.
How to Upgrade Your Cards in Marvel’s Midnight Suns
To enhance your hero’s skills and attacks, head to The Yard and interact with the sword in the stone near the entrance. This will bring up a menu where you can choose a hero with upgradable skills. To upgrade a card, you need the following:
- Two copies of the card
- Enough essence of the card’s type (attack, skill, heroism)
Most card upgrades add a new effect instead of simply increasing damage. Damage will automatically increase as your heroes level up. Also, keep in mind that cards can only be upgraded once.
You can preview what an upgrade will do by holding L1/LB while viewing the card in your hero menu.
