There was a specific kind of chaos that only existed in Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 8. The Volcano erupted. Pirates took over the south coast. A giant cannonball could send you soaring across half the map, tumbling toward an enemy who had no idea you were coming until it was too late. The Boom Bow felt unfair in the best possible way. And then it was all gone.

Until now.

April 1 Was Not a Joke

Fortnite OG Season 8 launched on April 1, 2026, and Epic Games made sure everyone knew this was absolutely not an April Fools prank. Pirates took over the throwback Chapter 1 island, the Avengers: Endgame limited-time mode returned for the first time in seven years, and a new OG Pass brought remix versions of three fan-favourite Chapter 1 skins.

The dates lined up suspiciously. The announcement dropped on the 31st. Servers went down on the 1st. The internet collectively refused to believe it until the island actually loaded in. And then — Lazy Lagoon appeared on the minimap, and the doubters went quiet.

What’s Back on the Island

Three POIs return to the OG island this season: The Volcano, Lazy Lagoon, and Sunny Steps. The Volcano was one of the most visually distinct locations the original game ever produced, and seeing it back alongside the pirate-themed Lazy Lagoon makes this feel like a genuine recreation of what made Season 8 special.

The weapon pool includes the Flint-Knock Pistol, Infantry Rifle, Heavy Assault Rifle, Boom Bow, Impulse Grenade, Poison Dart Traps, and the Shadow Bomb. Pirate Cannons and Treasure Maps are also back. The Boom Bow alone is enough to make this season memorable for players who spent the original Season 8 lobbing explosive arrows across storm circles.

The Baller — the beloved one-person rolling vehicle last seen in Chapter 5 Season 1 — is confirmed for Season 8, but will not be available at launch and will be added in a mid-season update. Classic Epic timing. The community is already counting down.

The OG Pass: Blackheart, Hybrid, and Luxe Return

The Season 8 OG Pass includes remixes of three fan-favourite skins: the lizard ninja Hybrid, the cursed pirate Blackheart, and the regular human Luxe. Unlocking the pass for 1,000 V-Bucks or through Fortnite Crew grants immediate access to Synthesis, the new remix version of Hybrid.

The original Season 8 holds a specific place in Fortnite history — it was the first season to offer a free battle pass, as a one-time gesture from Epic Games during a period of community turbulence. That’s not happening again, especially after Epic recently raised V-Bucks prices, but the nostalgia factor alone should be enough to pull players back in.

The Avengers: Endgame LTM Is Back After Seven Years

This is the part that stopped people mid-scroll.

The Avengers: Endgame mode went live on April 3 and splits players into two teams of 16. One side plays as the Avengers, the other as Thanos’ Chitauri army. The Chitauri must scour the island for all six Infinity Stones, with each stone powering up whichever player is currently controlling Thanos. The Avengers have to prevent that from happening. The Chitauri share a pool of 150 total respawns across the team, while the Avengers respawn freely until the Chitauri collect every stone.

For players who were in middle school when this mode originally dropped in 2019, getting to experience it again at their current skill level hits differently. For players who genuinely missed it the first time, the window is open — but not forever.

How Long Does Season 8 Last?

OG Season 8 is set to end on June 17, 2026. You have roughly two months to collect the OG Pass skins, abuse the Boom Bow, get cannon-launched into unsuspecting opponents, and experience the Endgame LTM before it all gets sealed back into the vault.
