Meet the Enemies of Lords of the Fallen

Lords of the Fallen plunges players into a brutal world filled with terrifying foes. From the hallowed ranks of the Hallowed Sentinels to the horrifying creations of the Umbral realm, the enemy variety and design are key to the game’s intensity. This article will delve into the diverse roster of enemies you’ll encounter, analyzing their strengths, weaknesses, and roles within the game’s narrative and combat.

Avowed

These are the initial footsoldiers of the Hallowed Sentinels, essentially the cannon fodder. Avowed are decently armored and wield maces, making them solid melee combatants at the vanguard. They represent the rank and file of the Order, a crucial part of the narrative in their quest to fight the corrupting forces of the Rhogar and the Umbral horrors.

Penitent

Once pilgrims, now marked as sinners by the Hallowed Sentinels, Penitent are a particularly interesting type. Their faces are hidden behind upside-down masks, symbolizing their shame and need for atonement. They carry chains, implying their punishment, and often beg for mercy – or a swift, worthy death. Their presence adds a layer of nuance to the game’s world, focusing on redemption and the complex morality within the Order.

Ardent Penitent

A specialized variant of the Penitent, Ardent Penitents utilize crossbows as their primary weapon. Their role is focused on ranged support for the melee-oriented Avowed and other order members. Their crossbow attacks are effective at keeping the enemy at bay. This highlights a mix of roles, showcasing the Hallowed Sentinels’ diverse strategies in combat.

Pilgrim

Pilgrims are those striving to join the Hallowed Sentinels. They are weaker than Avowed but still pose a challenge, wielding staffs imbued with fragments of Radiant power. The Pilgrims act as a stepping stone to the higher ranks of the Order, showing the gradual ascension in the religious hierarchy. They also mark the player’s position within the broader world of the Order.

Corrupted Penitent

These once-hopeful pilgrims, rejected by the Order or tainted by the Mournstead trials, are now corrupted by the Rhogar. They are emaciated and frenzied, obsessively clutching their Hallowed crosses. Their desperation and corruption reflect the consequences of the conflict between the Order and the Rhogar. They serve as a reminder of the horrors and the price of failure.

Corrupted Pilgrim

Also corrupted by the Rhogar, these pilgrims are marked by grotesque deformities, dangling guts, and explosive abilities. They utilize a staff and bell. The Corrupted Pilgrim adds a disturbing element to the game, presenting the player with a challenging mix of melee and ranged attacks. They showcase the physical and mental toll of the Rhogar’s influence.

Proselyte

Once members of the Hallowed Sentinels, now twisted and corrupted by the Rhogar, Proselytes fight with the ferocity of berserkers. These former comrades now wield Rhogar fire, transforming into formidable melee and ranged adversaries. The presence of these enemies underscores the Rhogar’s capacity for manipulation and the devastating impact on those under its influence.

Pureblade

These are the defensive bulwarks of the Order. Pureblades wield shields imbued with Radiant power. Their role is to protect the more vulnerable units. Often accompanied by ranged units, they limit the player’s movements and force strategic engagements. Pureblades embody the defensive strategy and the hierarchical structure of the Order.

Radiant Hound

These monstrous, sanctified hounds are vital to the Order. They act as brutal, four-legged battering rams. Their head armor can be broken, and they are prone to being tripped when charging. This shows a combination of brutality and vulnerability, creating tactical gameplay opportunities. They serve as a reminder of the variety of enemies that players will encounter.

Raw Mangler

Corrupted humans, transformed into Rhogar thralls, the Raw Manglers roam the ruins. Their bodies are grotesquely mangled, showcasing the extent of the Rhogar’s corruption. Wielding two axes, they are relentless and merciless enemies. Their design reflects the brutal nature of the conflict and the sheer brutality of the Rhogar.

Remnant

These are the Umbral zombies – countless dead, desperate for vigor. They are soulless and endless in numbers, drawn to the player’s vigor. They are slow, but their sheer numbers make them a dangerous threat, demanding strategic positioning and careful management of resources. Their presence highlights the overwhelming, relentless nature of the Umbral realm.

Shrouded Remnant

These are the ranged variants of Remnants, cloaked in shrouds. They unleash withering projectiles. Their combat involves keeping a safe distance while simultaneously posing a significant threat, requiring the player to manage multiple threats. These enemies emphasize the importance of ranged defense and strategic planning.
