Where to Find Golgra in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Golgra serves as an optional, but highly challenging, boss encounter in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Players aiming for complete game mastery will inevitably face her. You can find her in two locations. The first encounter is at Gestral Village, where she resides after you’ve dealt with the Ultimate Sakapatate in the Chief House. Progress through the village events and obtain the password needed to access Esquie’s Nest, which unlocks the possibility of challenging Golgra.
Alternatively, you can also encounter Golgra in the Dark Gestral Arena. However, this path necessitates overcoming three preceding bosses before she becomes available for a duel. For most players, the Gestral Village encounter presents a more direct route, as only securing the Esquie’s Nest password is required before initiation. Thus, Gestral Village is generally the better place to confront her.
When Should You Provoke Golgra to a Duel?
Given that players encounter Golgra relatively early in their Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 journey, carefully consider your timing before initiating a duel. A recommended level for facing Golgra is approximately level 50. Attempting the fight at a significantly lower level can prove exceedingly difficult, potentially rendering the encounter unwinnable. Her substantial health pool combined with her high damage output can easily overwhelm under-leveled characters.
While provoking Golgra is technically possible at any point after reaching the designated area, doing so prematurely could lead to frustration and wasted resources. Once you are confident in your character’s strength, you can simply approach her and initiate the encounter. Choosing Monoco as the challenger will streamline the encounter. The dialogue will be skipped and the fight will begin.
How to Beat Golgra in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
The battle against Golgra presents a unique challenge, as it is a solitary affair. Players must rely on their individual character’s strengths and abilities to emerge victorious. Her formidable health pool and devastating attacks demand a carefully crafted strategy, proper equipment and skillful execution. Success hinges on understanding Golgra’s attack patterns and exploiting her weaknesses.
Golgra’s Mechanics
Golgra’s combat style primarily revolves around powerful kicks, which are telegraphed by a distinct, albeit delayed, wind-up animation. Learning to recognize and time these animations is crucial for success. Mastering the art of parrying is the most effective way to mitigate her attacks. Successfully parrying or even blocking will negate a great deal of damage.
However, failure to correctly parry or block can result in massive damage, potentially reducing a character’s health by five to seven thousand in a single blow. When Golgra’s health dips below 50%, she undergoes a transformation, changing both her appearance and attack patterns. Her attacks evolve into complex combos, retaining elements of her previous style, but demanding greater precision and responsiveness. Be prepared for earth-shaking attacks. You must jump and use a gradient counter to avoid them.
Best Ways to Beat Golgra
Defeating Golgra can be a protracted affair, due to her massive health pool and hard-hitting attacks that can potentially eliminate lower-leveled characters with a single hit. It’s essential to take advantage of every available advantage to gain the upper hand.
- Exploit Golgra’s Break Meter by inflicting sufficient damage to temporarily incapacitate her. This will give a window to deal significant damage. If you can’t fill her break meter, use stun abilities.
- Equip Paintress Power. Paintress Power removes the damage cap, and you can deal even more damage to Golgra.
- Use Cheater Lumina to act twice, allowing you to buff your attack before executing it.
- Take advantage of the Last Stand Lumina. It gives a buff when fighting alone.
- Use Inverted Affinity, Glass Cannon, and Warming Up Luminas to get an extra boost of damage. It pairs well with Paintress Power.
- Equipping Empowered Dodge, Empowered Parry, and Augmented Counter makes your character more consistent in dodging and blocking Golgra’s heavy damage attacks.
- First Strike and Augmented First Strike give an extra kick of damage at the beginning, which pairs well with Cheater. You can set it up for the first act and then execute the attack for the next.
Remember, even with optimal equipment and luminas, mastering the timing of parries and dodges is paramount to surviving Golgra’s onslaught.
