The Heretical Rise, a key location for progressing in Elden Ring, is found in the Mountaintops of the Giants region. Precisely, it’s situated atop a cliff overlooking a large frozen lake, nestled within the Giant Mountains just west of the lake. Initially, a barrier prevents access, requiring players to solve a cunning puzzle to gain entry.

This challenging, albeit rewarding, location is perfect for magical builds, especially since the tower is nestled in a canyon that seems practically impossible to traverse.

How to Enter Heretical Rise in Elden Ring

Gaining access to the Heretical Rise isn’t a straightforward task. You must first complete significant portions of the main story. This includes defeating Morgott, the Fourth Shardbearer.

• Journey to the Giant Mountains: Travel west of the frozen lake in the Mountaintops of the Giants area.
• Traverse the Canyon: Find the cliff on the opposite side of the canyon. This canyon will need to be crossed.
• Activate the Bridge: You will find remnants of a broken bridge. Defeat two skeletal archers positioned near it. Activate a torch or light source to illuminate the bridge.
• Navigate the Invisible Bridge: Carefully cross the newly lit bridge. Drop shining stones (or other light sources if the stones aren’t readily available) as you go. The stones will confirm safe passage on the otherwise invisible walkway. Don’t stray too far from the path.
• Spiral Staircase: The path eventually turns left, leading up a spiral staircase to the Heretical Rise’s entrance.
• Locate the Mist Ramp: As you approach the tower, follow the straight part of the bridge. Use sorceries, Rainbow Stones, or other projectiles to illuminate the path. Watch for a white mist which will mark the curving ramp leading upward into the tower.

By following these steps, overcoming the puzzle, and reaching the cliff, you will gain access to the Heretical Rise, an area filled with further challenges and rewards in Elden Ring.
