What are Dragon’s Dogma 2 Portcrystals
Dragon’s Dogma 2 offers two fast travel systems: Portcrystals and Ox carts. Portcrystals provide instantaneous travel to specific points of interest (POIs), while Ox carts are cheaper but only operate on a fixed schedule. Using a Portcrystal requires Ferrystones, which are expensive but offer a safer alternative to Ox carts, as they eliminate the risk of being ambushed or interrupted.
Players can use Portcrystals anywhere with a Ferrystone in their inventory. These items cost around 10,000 gold from merchants but can also be found in chests in tombs and catacombs. To use a Ferrystone, select it and choose the desired Portcrystal. However, this function only works in open spaces, as slow travel is required indoors.
Players can also acquire Portable Portcrystals during their adventures. These items can be placed in open spaces, allowing for access to strategic locations far from regular ports and Ox cart stations. Portable Portcrystals can be retrieved and repositioned, and up to ten can be active worldwide alongside permanent ones. To learn placement locations, remove them from fixed Portcrystals.
How Do You Use and Unlock Portcrystals
Unlocking Portcrystals involves interacting with them. Once you find a Portcrystal, walk up to it and interact to unlock its features. You can then use Ferrystones to travel to any previously accessed ports. Fast travel is limited to open areas, so ensure you are outdoors when using this feature.
Portcrystals offer a safer travel option compared to Ox carts, but the cost of Ferrystones can be a deterrent. Consider whether the expense is justified before using this method of fast travel. Here are the locations of all permanent Portcrystals in the game:
Vernsworth Portcrystal
The easiest and most accessible Portcrystal is located outside the Grand Riftstone of Vermund building in Vernsworth, the capital city. This area becomes accessible through the Seat of the Sovran main quest.
Harve Village Portcrystal
The Harve Village Portcrystal is situated southwest of Vensworth, reachable by heading west from the city and then southwest along the coastline. This Portcrystal is found on the southwestern edge of the village, overlooking a cliff.
Sacred Arbor Portcrystal
Located near a cliff in the northern part of the Sacred Arbor, this Portcrystal can only be accessed after initiating the True Ending quest following completion of the Legacy mission. The Elven hideout is northwest of the capital, near landmarks like Trevo Mine. This Portcrystal becomes active during the True Ending questline.
Seafloor Shrine Portcrystal
The Seafloor Shrine area is accessible after progressing through the Legacy quest, and the Portcrystal becomes available at a specific point in the questline. The water from the unchosen world eventually drains, exposing the seabed. Once this happens, travel to the Seafloor Shrine, surrounded by skeletons and zombies. The Portcrystal is located east of the zone’s center.
Agamen Volcanic Island Portcrystal
The Agamen Volcanic Island Portcrystal is far from Vensworth and, like the previous three, becomes accessible after initiating the True Ending quest following completion of the Legacy mission. Otherwise, most of the area remains locked. The zone can be found by following the coastline to Bakbattahl. This Portcrystal becomes visible during the True Ending questline.
Bakbattahl (No Portcrystal)
Bakbattahl, the Beastmen capital, lacks a permanent Portcrystal. However, players can quickly establish a portable port near the city using available materials. A cave near the coastal path north of the town leads to a cavern with five Portcrystal pieces. Additional pieces can be purchased with 20 Crystallized Wyvern Blood. The city is southwest of Vensworth, accessible by following the coastline south.
If you cannot find a Portcrystal on this list, it is likely that none exists in that location. However, you can always set up a portable one in frequently visited zones. Gather enough materials to install Portcrystals and enjoy convenient travel.
