Diablo IV Beta Extension?

Will Diablo IV Beta Be Extended?

No Extension for March 18 to 20 Early Access

Unfortunately, there’s no extension planned for the Diablo IV Early Access period from March 18th to 20th. Blizzard hasn’t announced any changes to the schedule, indicating that the initial timeframe will remain in place. This means those with access to the current Early Access will have a limited playing window. Despite fan hopes for a last-minute adjustment, players can still look forward to the next Open Beta if they wish to experience more of the game.

Diablo IV Disconnection Loop and Long Queues

Many players encountered frustrating disconnections and lengthy queues during the Diablo IV Early Access. While Blizzard acknowledges that the game isn’t in its final state, the persistent issues have significantly impacted the gameplay experience, particularly for those tackling dungeon content. The disconnections often mean players are forced to redo significant portions of their gameplay progress due to getting teleported back to the main city. This is further compounded by the fact that players often find themselves placed at the back of the queue after being disconnected, leading to extended wait times.

This combination of factors has clearly been a considerable drawback. Players struggling with these issues are understandably eager for any solutions. While the extent of the problem is something Blizzard is still investigating, it’s undoubtedly affecting the overall enjoyment of the Early Access experience.

Second Open Beta March 25 to 27

Fortunately, Diablo IV will offer another Open Beta opportunity for all players from March 25th to 27th. This second beta differs from the pre-purchase exclusive initial beta, allowing everyone to sample the gameplay. If you haven’t yet purchased the game, this presents a chance to try it before its release. Furthermore, progress made during the earlier beta will carry over to the subsequent one. This means players can continue their character progression and enjoy their accomplishments from the first beta.

However, players should be aware that any progress made in this Open Beta will not carry over to the final game release. This distinction is important for players who want to enjoy the experience but understand its temporary nature.

Potential Problems for Next Early Access

The possibility of encountering similar disconnection issues and long queues during the upcoming Open Beta (March 25-27) remains a concern. While Blizzard might have addressed some bugs and glitches, other areas such as user interface or dungeon design might not have seen improvement. Given the persistent problems reported thus far, and the increased player count with the wider beta access, the disconnection issues could be even more prevalent.

The issue of constant disconnections hasn’t been conclusively identified. This uncertainty means that widespread disconnections and lengthy queues during the next beta are a strong possibility. Therefore, players are advised to be prepared for potentially problematic queueing times when attempting to log into the game.

Players should also anticipate that the extensive player base may lead to substantial wait times in queues. To mitigate this, players are strongly advised to join the game as soon as possible to maximize their playing time.
