Diablo 4 Season 5 PTR Patch Notes:

Blizzard has announced a second Public Test Realm (PTR) for the action RPG, Diablo 4, this time focusing on Season 5. This PTR, exclusively available for Battle.net PC players from June 25th to July 2nd, gives fans an early look at the upcoming season and a chance to provide valuable feedback to Blizzard. This feedback will help them fine-tune balance changes, eliminate bugs, and ensure the best possible experience for all players when Season 5 officially launches on August 6th.

New Items and Tempering Recipes

Season 5 brings with it a wealth of new items and tempering recipes for all classes. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the highlights:

  • Tempering Recipes: New recipes like Worldly Finesse, Slayer’s Finesse, Ultimate Efficiency, Necromancer Wall, Subterfuge Expertise, Rogue Persistence, Discharge, Conjuration, Conjuration Fortune, and Elemental Control offer fresh opportunities for item customization.
  • Unique Items: Discover powerful new unique items, such as Unbroken Chain for Barbarians, Björnfang’s Tusks for Druids, Path of Trag’Oul for Necromancers, Shroud of Khanduras for Rogues, and Axial Conduit for Sorcerers.

  • Barbarian: Enhancements to skills like Bash, Flay, and Endless Fury, along with changes to Legendary Aspects like Wanton Rupture and Steadfast Berserker’s, aim to boost Barbarian’s overall power and versatility.
  • Druid: Numerous buffs to Druid skills such as Landslide, Shred, Pulverize, Tornado, Lightning Storm, and Hurricane, combined with the introduction of new passives and adjustments to existing ones, provide a major power boost to the Druid class.
  • Necromancer: Significant changes to the Book of the Dead, Golem, and skills like Sever, Blight, and Blood Wave, alongside adjustments to Legendary Aspects like Blighted and Cadaverous, reshape the Necromancer’s playstyle and enhance its minion-focused build.
  • Rogue: Enhancements to skills like Blade Shift, Shadow Step, Dash, and Smoke Grenade, along with changes to passives like Impetus, Trick Attacks, and Alchemical Advantage, aim to make the Rogue more effective and agile in combat.
  • Sorcerer: Major adjustments to skills like Ice Armor, Charged Bolts, Spark, Blizzard, Hydra, Inferno, Chain Lightning, Flame Shield, and Teleport, coupled with changes to passives and Legendary Aspects, aim to improve the Sorcerer’s versatility and power across all skill builds.

Tempering Updates

Blizzard has introduced new Affixes to the Utility category in Tempering, expanding customization options and adding more depth to the system. This allows for more diverse and tailored builds across various playstyles.

  • Improved Floating Combat Text: Floating Combat Text has been updated to be more consistent and legible, with the addition of settings for further customization.
  • Enhanced Stats Window: The Stats window now features highlights for reaching the Armor Cap and allows for collapsing and expanding sections.
  • Mythic Unique Items: These items have new visual effects and a distinct look in the Inventory to stand out more.
  • Legendary Aspects: Legendary Aspects can now be favorited and filtered while interacting with the Occultist.
  • Skill Tree Enhancements: Shift-clicking a skill adds 5 points (or as many as possible) to it in the Skill tree, and notifications for unlocking and upgrading Aspects are more prominent.

Miscellaneous

A variety of miscellaneous changes have been made, including:

  • Tortured Gifts in Helltide no longer contain Obols.
  • World Bosses are now more resilient to damage.
  • Experience rewards for side quests, including Priority Quests and Class quests, have been increased.
  • Skills that grant Immunity (e.g., Flame Shield and Blood Mist) now go on cooldown only when the Immunity effect ends.
  • Potions can now be used while Crowd Controlled.
  • Certain tutorial quests (e.g., the quest for crafting a gem) are now tracked account-wide.
  • Several Dungeons have had layout tweaks for improved flow.
  • More weapon types are available to more classes, with changes to inherent Affixes on multiple Weapon Types.

BUG FIXES

Gameplay

Blizzard has addressed numerous bugs across various classes, including:

  • Barbarian: Fixed various issues related to skills like Charge, Whirlwind, and Earthstrikers Aspect, along with issues with the Aspect of Ancestral Echoes, Aspect of Limitless Rage, and the Rumble Glyph.
  • Druid: Fixed various issues related to skills like Shred, Poison Creeper, Rabies, and Lightning Storm, along with issues with the Aspect of the Changeling’s Debt and Airidah’s Inexorable Will.
  • Necromancer: Fixed various issues related to skills like Reap, Bone Storm, Corpse Tendrils, and Hellbent Commander, along with issues with the Aspect of Frenzied Dead, the Untimely Death Aspect, and Rapid Ossification.
  • Rogue: Fixed various issues related to skills like Dash, Flurry, Penetrating Shot, Shadow Clone, and Victimize, along with issues with the Aspect of Explosive Verve, Scoundrel’s Kiss, and Forceful Arrow.
  • Sorcerer: Fixed issues with Vyr’s Mastery and Ice Armor.

General

Blizzard has addressed a wide range of general bugs, including issues with:

  • The Aspect of the Crowded Sage
  • Damage over Time effects receiving bonus from the %Damage Stat twice
  • The Needleflare Aspect
  • The Elixir of Antivenin
  • Evade triggering Yen’s Blessing
  • Elite Scorpion enemies with the Teleporter Affix
  • The High Velocity Aspect
  • Items disappearing when opening many caches at once
  • Starlight not working properly with Overhealing effects
  • The Aspect of Frosty Strides not being able to be imprinted onto Pants

User Interface and User Experience

Various UI and UX bugs have been addressed, including issues with:

  • Unlocking Tempering
  • Legendary materials appearing in the Lost Items Stash but not being withdrawable
  • Inconsistent tooltips
  • Unique Items not displaying Class restrictions
  • Incompatible Mount armors being selectable in the Stablemaster menu

Miscellaneous

Additional miscellaneous bug fixes include:

  • Materials from Season of the Malignant dropping in the Malignant Burrow
  • Performance, visual, and stability improvements
