Diablo 4 Mounts: Unlock & Use Guide

Diablo 4 Mount Guide: How to Unlock and Use Mounts

This guide details how to unlock and use mounts in Diablo 4, a crucial element for fast travel across the vast Sanctuary.

What Are Mounts in Diablo 4?

Mounts are riding animals in Diablo 4, providing a swift means of traversing vast distances. They enable significantly faster travel than on foot, especially for journeys between significant points on the world map. Crucially, they do not facilitate combat; you must dismount to engage enemies.

How to Unlock the Mount in Diablo 4

Unlocking your first mount requires completing the “Mount: Donan’s Favor” quest. This quest begins in Act 4. Locate Donan, a character near Kyovashad, and speak with the stable keeper, Oskar, located near the Cathedral of Light. Mentioning that you are a friend of Donan’s unlocks the questline and grants access to various mounts. Each mount, simply a visual distinction, offers no discernible difference in gameplay mechanics.

How to Use Mounts in Diablo 4

Use the “Z” key to summon your mount. The mount speeds significantly as you evade with your chosen evade key. Keep an eye on the meter above the mount’s head; a full meter indicates that the mount is spooked by the presence of enemies and will be dislodged. Importantly, combat must be engaged by dismounting, using the dismount attack your class provides.

  • Summon your mount: Press “Z”.
  • Move quickly: Use evade key for added speed.
  • Watch the meter: Avoid overfilling the mount spook meter.
  • Engage combat: Dismount and use your class’ dismount attack.

Diablo 4 All Mount Skills

Mounts offer a variety of unique dismount skills, each with different effects for each class.

Universal Mount Skills

  • Spur: Allows for faster mounting.
  • Dismount: Allows for dismounting.

Class-Specific Mount Skills

  • Barbarian: Bounding Slam: A leap from the mount, delivering two rapid ground slams, dealing damage to enemies nearby.
  • Sorceress: Freezing Wake: A dismount as a wisp of ice, damaging enemies and briefly freezing them.
  • Necromancer: Bone Spike: A leap from the mount, causing spikes to erupt from the ground, damaging nearby enemies.
  • Rogue: Volley: A leap upwards from the mount followed by a flurry of arrows, dealing damage.
  • Druid: Pummel: A transformation into Werebear followed by a leap from the mount and a ground slam.

Each skill has a short cooldown, limiting its use frequency.

Utilizing mounts is crucial for optimizing your Diablo 4 experience. Swift travel across the game world enhances your ability to explore, complete quests, and maximize your progression.
