ID@Xbox April 2024: Everything Announced

Microsoft recently held its latest ID@Xbox showcase, a digital event showcasing numerous exciting indie games coming to Xbox and PC. From game updates like Palworld and Vampire Survivors to fresh details on upcoming indie titles like 33 Immortals and Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, this showcase had something for everyone.

Astor: Blade of the Monolith is out on May 30

Originally announced as Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients, Astor: Blade of the Monolith is a hack-and-slash ARPG. Players take on the role of Astor as he embarks on a journey to uncover the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the ancients. This thrilling title is set to release on May 30th.

33 Immortals’ closed beta is set for late May

If you’re looking for a co-op roguelike with 32 of your friends, 33 Immortals’ is the game for you. This top-down action game boasts beautiful hand-drawn visuals reminiscent of Spiritfarer combined with the frantic action of Vampire Survivors. 33 Immortals’ closed beta is scheduled for May 24th.

Palworld is getting a massive update with new Pals this Summer

Palworld, the indie darling that has become a breakout hit for Xbox in 2024, is getting a significant update this summer. This update introduces four new Pals and features a flamethrower weapon that can be used by players. Previously, players needed a Foxsparks to replicate a flamethrower in the game.

WWII-era game Commandos: Origins is getting a closed beta this Summer

Claymore Game Studios has unveiled a new look at the latest installment in the Commandos franchise, titled Origins. Set in World War II, players control Jack O’Hara or one of his five companions in a series of missions set in “historically authentic WWII environments.” A closed beta is planned for sometime this Summer.

Centum is an 8-bit point-and-click adventure game coming this Summer

If you enjoy 8-bit visuals and point-and-click adventure games, Centum should be on your radar. The gameplay revealed in the reveal trailer showcases the game’s shift between medieval and modern settings. Centum is slated for release this Summer.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage gets a new trailer, but no release date

Announced at the 2023 Game Awards, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is the next project from Don’t Nod, the studio behind Life is Strange. Unlike Don’t Nod’s previous story-driven games set in a more modern period, Lost Records is set in 1995. The latest trailer is dripping with 90s nostalgia, featuring skateboarding kids and footage “recorded” from a 90s-era camcorder.

Keylocker is out this Summer on PC and Xbox

Keylocker, a turn-based cyberpunk action game, will be released on PC and Xbox this Summer. Set in a world where music is outlawed, players control a singer. Developer Moonana explained on the game’s Steam page that Keylocker was inspired by the Mario & Luigi RPG series and Chrono Trigger.

Stampede: Racing Royale is a battle royale racing game with 60 players on the course

While Mario Kart reigns supreme in the kart racing subgenre, it is limited to Nintendo hardware. Sumo Digital’s Stampede: Racing Royale might provide Xbox players with a satisfying alternative. This kart racing game combines elements of battle royale, featuring 60 players competing on the course. The gameplay and power-ups are reminiscent of Mario Kart, with a dose of the silliness found in Fall Guys.

Jackbox Games is finally making an adult-themed Party Pack coming this year

Adult Jackbox fans yearning for an adult-themed Party Pack can rejoice! Jackbox Games has announced that they are finally creating one. Jackbox Naughty Pack is expected to arrive sometime this year. While specific games haven’t been revealed, the announcement evokes the spirit of Apples to Apples and Cards Against Humanity, with a darker, more provocative twist.

Times & Galaxy gets June release window

Copychaser Games’ upcoming point-and-click game Times & Galaxy will be available on PC and Xbox in June. Players take control of a robot, the first robot reporter for the prestigious Times & Galaxy newspaper. This intern reporter is tasked with finding stories across the Galaxy, hoping for a big break.

Sulfur is a contemporary shooter with old-school vibes coming to Xbox

Sulfur is a contemporary first-person shooter that blends roguelike elements with an old-school design. It is described as a “boomer shooter” on the game’s Steam page. The trailers showcase gameplay reminiscent of older Doom and Wolfenstein games, with fast-paced action and retro visuals.

Fera: The Sundered Tribes is out later this year

Massive Damage Studios has released a new trailer for Fera: The Sundered Tribes, an action RPG that combines monster hunting with tribe management and building mechanics. The gameplay and screenshots resemble Monster Hunter: World. Fera: The Sundered Tribes is set to launch later this year.

All You Need Is Help is a quirky puzzle game from the creators of PixelJunk Monsters

If you’re seeking a silly yet cozy puzzle game, All You Need Is Help, the latest project from PixelJunk Monsters creator Q-Games, fits the bill. The trailer suggests a multiplayer game where players are tasked with placing puzzle pieces in the correct position within a time limit. All You Need Is Help is expected to release this Fall.

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter gets new trailer, still no release date

Odd Bug Studio’s upcoming soulslike action RPG Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter received a new trailer at ID@Xbox, showcasing more of its comic book-inspired 2D art style. Players will control Arlo on a quest to defeat giant beasts and bandits scattered throughout the world.

Hangry briefly appears at ID@Xbox

Hangry, the “snack n’ slash” RPG where players hunt and eat monsters, made a brief appearance at ID@Xbox, offering a glimpse of new gameplay footage.

Promise Mascot Agency is the next game from the creators of Paradise Killer

Kaizen Game Works, the developers behind Paradise Killer, are back with their sophomore title called Promise Mascot Agency. As the name suggests, players run a mascot agency, engaging in card-based battles. Promise Mascot Agency is slated for release next year.

Five games published by Gamera Games are headed to Xbox Game Pass

Indie game publisher Gamera Games announced at ID@Xbox that five of their games – Depersonalization, Firework, Volcano Princess, Kelperth, and The Rewinder – are coming to Game Pass. These games were initially released on PC before this announcement.

Over 15 games from the Triple-I Initiative showcase will be playable on Xbox

Earlier this month, the Triple-I Initiative showcase highlighted several indie gems. Games such as Palworld Arena and Cat Quest 3 were featured. During ID@Xbox, it was revealed that 17 games from that showcase will be playable on Xbox.

Dungeons of Hinterberg gets a colorful new trailer focusing on gameplay

Dungeons of Hinterberg, a unique blend of social sim and action RPG genres with cel-shaded graphics, is set in the Austrian Alps. Players take on the role of Luisa, a law trainee suffering burnout who decides to ditch corporate life and embrace the rugged wilderness, conquering dungeons along the way.

Vampire Survivors: Operation Guns DLC gets one more trailer before its May 9 release date

Vampire Survivors: Operation Guns, affectionately known as the Contra DLC, is arriving on all platforms early next month. A new trailer provided a fresh look at the DLC. Interestingly, the trailer’s ending revealed that Brad Fang, a character from Contra: Hard Corps, will be featured in the DLC.
