What kind of mount is it?
The Cold Flame Storm is a phoenix in blue colors that is also equipped with silver armor. The phoenix is a reference to the Ashes of Al’ar, one of the most popular mounts of all time – only in Blizzard’s blue colors.
You can only earn the mount during the celebrations of WoW’s 20th anniversary, i.e. until the beginning of January 2025.
What do you have to do for Cold Flame Storm?
To permanently unlock Cold Flame Storm for your collection, you need to complete one of the larger meta achievements of the event. The achievement is called “
A Cool Twenty Years”. This requires 8 different steps. But don’t worry: You can complete most of the steps within a few minutes, so most of you should have unlocked the mount in one evening.
Unlock Cold Flame Storm Mount – All Steps
You can complete most of the steps in Tanaris. The festivities take place in front of the Caverns of Time, and that’s where most of the activities you need for the achievement are. If an achievement cannot be completed there, this is noted in the respective step.
Note that the necessary events, such as the mount show, rotate regularly. You can always see at the top of the screen which event is coming up next.
I did! (I Have that One!): In the mount show, you have to mount the mount that is shown by the NPC. The larger your mount collection, the sooner this will be the case. Sooner or later, however, a mount will appear, which you probably own. Simply level up at the same time as the NPC Abigail Cyrildotr and you will have completed this part.
Fashion Critic: Vote at least 1x in the transmog contest.
Pet Mishaps: Use a Pet Mirror on a Battle Pet to take on its appearance. The mirror can be found in the Pet Corner of the Celebrations.
Balloonist: Fly with one of the celebration balloons that can be found on the festival grounds in Tanaris.
On the Cheap Seats (Peanut Gallery): Listen to the stories of Lorewalker Cho and respond to his stories 50 times. You’ll have to listen to several stories to get to 50.
An Original: Defeat one of the vanilla world bosses of the event. This can be either one of the Nightmare Dragons, Azuregos or Lord Kazzak. You can see which boss is currently active on the world map. These bosses are not in Tanaris, but in different places, such as Ashenvale or Azshara.
A Gatecrasher: Defeat one of the newer event world bosses. Sha of Wrath, Doomwalker, or Archavon the Stone Guardian. You can find these world bosses directly in Tanaris.
Codex Editor: Ahn’Qiraj (Codex Editor: Ahn’Qiraj): Complete the Ahn’Qiraj scenario once with Chromie. You can simply log in via the Dungeon Browser. The scenario lasts 10-20 minutes, depending on how good your group is.
Once you’ve completed all of these tasks, you’ll unlock the achievement “A Cool Twenty Years” and can look forward to your new Phoenix mount. Afterwards, you can then turn directly to the numerous other activities of the anniversary – because there is a lot to do in the 2 1/2 months that the event is active.
