Your bank in World of Warcraft will change drastically. You have more space than before, but something disappears.

If there’s one thing players in World of Warcraft can’t handle very badly, it’s inventory space in the game. Although there are now several hundred places on the bench, in bags or in the reagent store, there is never enough space. Buy WOW Gold to unlock bigger bags, expand storage, and make inventory management a breeze.

Over the years, Blizzard has created other aids here, such as the Void Storage or an extra slot just for crafting materials. Both are now being abolished. Because WoW is revamping your bank and standardizing it.

What is Blizzard up to? In the next patch, Blizzard will remove many old methods of storing items and replace them completely. The warehouse for crafting materials (also often called “reagent storage”) falls victim here. The empty bench is also completely eliminated. The old bench will also be removed, along with the extra space that could be unlocked by storing bags.

The whole thing is replaced by a personal bench, which is strongly reminiscent of the bench of the war pack in terms of design. You will soon have large tabs on your bench with a variety of free seats.

50 more inventory slots – in the worst case

How much more space do you have then? How much space you get depends mainly on how much you have maxed out your bank, the Void Storage, and the Crafting Materials Storage so far. To do this, we look at how much space you will have in the future and how much you have had so far.

  • The new system consists of 6 bench tabs, each with 98 seats, for a total of 588 seats.

From this value, we now subtract the previously possible maximum values of the places that will be lost:

  • Empty bench (160 seats)
  • Warehouse for crafting materials (98 seats)
  • Standard bench (28 seats)
  • 7 additional bench pockets, each equipped with 36 bags (252 spaces)

This means that the total loss in the worst case amounts to 538 slots, while the new system gives you 588 inventory slots.

Or in short: In the worst case, you get 50 additional inventory slots on the bank, in the best case significantly more.

The bottom line is that this is a purely positive change. Because places like the Void Storage could only be filled with certain items. In the future, all these places will be without restrictions, so that you can dispose of your bench much more freely and everything can be found bundled in one place.

How much does it cost? This depends on how much you have already unlocked in your bank and what level your character has. In general, the following applies:

Bank TabCost in GoldPlaces (total)
1198
2100196
3500294
41.000392
52.500490
65.000588
  • If your character is already level 80, all slots will be automatically unlocked when you log in.
  • If your character is below level 80, the unlock will depend on how many bag slots you already own in the bank and whether you have unlocked the Void Storage and the Crafting Materials Storage.

When will that come? The change to the bank comes with patch 11.2 Spirits of K’aresh – so already in August.

When you log in after the patch, your bank will automatically be switched to the new system. The items from the different areas (i.e. void storage, bank bags, etc.) will be in the new slots of your bank after the changeover.

You can then also designate one or more tabs as a new cache for crafting materials, so there is no functional loss.

Community worries about beloved items: Even though the increased space in the bench causes a lot of joy, there are also a lot of worries. Because when WoW reworked the bank last time, guild banks were affected by a problem. Some guilds have lost entire tabs of their bank and in many cases the items could not be restored. Some fear that such a debacle could now be repeated with the personal items of the players.

Others, however, are confident that Blizzard has learned from the mistakes of the past and will ensure that this issue does not lead to the loss of beloved items a second time. But don’t worry, there’s bound to be Xal’atath to comfort you over this loss. With a new macro, you can always have their most important body parts right in front of you…
