Weapon of Choice
The quest for the “best” weapon in PUBG is a bit of a fool’s errand. Instead of focusing on a single best weapon, it’s more about choosing the right tool for the job. Just as you wouldn’t wear the same outfit to a job interview and a beach party, you shouldn’t rely on the same weapon in every PUBG scenario.
The early game, filled with chaotic house-clearing and frantic scrambles for loot, demands a weapon that excels in close quarters. Shotguns and SMGs are your go-to options in this phase, providing the firepower needed to dominate in tight spaces. Your goal is to find a suitable weapon quickly and secure an advantage before the map shrinks and the action shifts.
Sidearms: Beggars Can’t Be Choosers
Sidearms in PUBG are generally considered inferior to their primary weapon counterparts. They often lack the stopping power and precision required to engage targets effectively. The P1911 and P92 are basic pistols with varying ammo capacities, but they’re outmatched in most situations. The R1895, a 7-shot revolver, is notorious for its slow reload speed and lack of accuracy.
However, two sidearms stand out from the pack: the P18C (Glock) and the Sawed-Off Shotgun. The P18C, despite its limited damage output, can be surprisingly effective in close combat, especially with its extended magazine that allows for sustained fire. The Sawed-Off Shotgun, while best suited for extremely close ranges, excels at clearing rooms and provides a powerful backup option in tight spots.
Shotguns and SMG’s: Spray and Pray
Shotguns and SMGs are commonly considered transition weapons, useful in the early game and during chaotic close-quarters encounters. The UZI, with its rapid fire rate, is a fan favorite for quickly neutralizing opponents caught off guard. While the Tommy Gun was once a fan favorite due to its massive 100-round magazine, its nerf and removal from loot crates have made it less appealing, now limited to 30 rounds per mag. The Vector, with its extended mag and attachment options, was once a top SMG choice, but the UMP9 has emerged as a more versatile option, excelling in both house clearing and close-range engagements.
As the game progresses, you’ll likely transition to Assault Rifles (ARs), which provide the firepower and versatility needed for a wider range of scenarios. ARs dominate in both indoor fights and open ground engagements, especially in the late game. The AKM, known for its power and reliability, is often considered the king of ARs. However, its high recoil can be challenging to manage, leading many players to favor other options.
Best PUBG Loadouts
Ultimately, the “best” weapon is a matter of personal preference and playstyle. Instead of fixating on individual weapons, it’s more important to create a loadout that caters to your specific needs. A well-rounded loadout will include weapons that excel in different scenarios, allowing you to adapt and thrive in diverse environments. A common and effective setup includes:
- Sawed-Off Shotgun: For close-quarters combat and house clearing, especially in urban areas.
- M416: A versatile AR with low recoil, making it suitable for a wide range of engagements. Customize it with a vertical grip, extended magazine, tactical stock, suppressor, and a 4x scope for optimal performance.
- Kar98k: A powerful sniper rifle with excellent range and stopping power. Equip it with a suppressor and an 8x scope for long-range engagements.
If you’re fortunate enough to find crate weapons, the Groza and AUG are viable alternatives to the M416 and Kar98k. Remember, the key is to create a loadout that fits your playstyle and allows you to effectively engage targets across varying distances.
Don’t forget the pan! A trusty pan can provide a surprise shield in close-quarters encounters and even serve as a makeshift weapon when you’re out of ammo. The pan is a versatile tool that can help you survive in the most unexpected situations.
