The Tutorial
The first thing you’ll need to do in Clash of Clans is go through the tutorial. This will introduce you to the basics of the game, including defense, construction, and upgrades. You’ll also get some helpful items, such as gems and resources, along the way. It only takes a few minutes to complete but will give you valuable knowledge for the rest of your Clash of Clans journey. You can further expand your knowledge by playing the single-player campaign.
Upgrade Resource Collection
Once you’ve completed the tutorial, your top priority is to upgrade your resource collection. This includes your gold mines and elixir collectors. Since you are shielded from attacks for the first 3 days, take advantage of this time to focus solely on your resource production.
- Upgrade your resource collectors and storage units as quickly as possible.
- Build as many gold mines and elixir collectors as your space allows.
- Avoid wasting resources on secondary storage units. They’ll come later when your resource stockpile is overflowing.
These upgrades will be essential for your long-term progress and allow you to accumulate enough resources for future upgrades and defenses.
48 Hour Mark
After reaching the 48-hour mark, it’s time to shift your attention towards your defenses. You’re approaching the point where attacks are possible, so prioritize strengthening your base. Here are the key defenses to focus on:
- Mortar
- Archer Tower
- Cannons
Aim to get these defenses to level 2, providing a solid foundation for your initial defenses. Additionally, set up a few traps strategically around your base to add further protection.
While You’re Waiting
As you wait for your resources to accumulate and upgrades to complete, dive into the single-player campaign of Clash of Clans. While it’s relatively basic, it introduces core game mechanics, such as attacking and defending, and provides a consistent source of income. It will help you learn the game’s mechanics in a low-pressure environment.
Things You Should Avoid Doing
Avoid spending gems during the early stages of the game. Resist the temptation to use them, even during the tutorial. Those gems are invaluable for later game progress when time becomes a crucial factor.
- Don’t upgrade your town hall until everything else is upgraded. Upgrading your town hall too early will make your defenses vulnerable to stronger opponents.
- Avoid spending gems to speed up upgrades. This will drain your gem supply quickly and is not necessary at this stage.
Patience and planning will pay off in the long run, ensuring a smoother and more successful Clash of Clans journey.
Your First Attack
Around the 72-hour mark, you’ll likely experience your first raid. Enemies will aim to steal resources from your collectors and storage. Make sure your defenses are strong enough to protect them. Remember:
- All destroyed buildings except traps will be rebuilt automatically. You won’t need to spend resources on rebuilding.
- Rearm any triggered traps.
- After each attack, analyze your base’s weaknesses to improve your defenses for future attacks.
These attacks are an essential part of the game, teaching you about your base’s strengths and weaknesses, ultimately helping you improve your strategies and defenses.
