This patch brings a wave of improvements and fresh content to keep the turf wars exciting. From enhanced visuals on the Nintendo Switch 2 to new weapon kits and a returning classic stage, there’s plenty to dive into. Let’s explore the key highlights of this update and what it means for your Splatoon 3 experience. Prepare for ink-redible changes!
Enhanced Visuals and Performance (Switch 2)
For those playing on the Nintendo Switch 2, update 10.0.0 delivers a noticeable boost to the game’s visual fidelity and performance. Experience Splatoon 3 like never before with:
- Increased Detail: Enjoy sharper, more detailed visuals on your screen.
- Smoother Movement: Navigate Splatsville, Inkopolis, Inkopolis Square, and the Grand Festival Grounds with enhanced fluidity.
- Improved Animations: Witness smoother animations for various characters, including the ever-charming jellyfish and even the Salmonids during intense Salmon Run sessions.
- Higher Resolution Screenshots: Capture your best moments in Photo Mode or with the Capture Button, now saved at a higher resolution in your Nintendo Switch 2 Album.
Optimizations for Nintendo Switch
While the Nintendo Switch 2 receives visual enhancements, the original Nintendo Switch also benefits from optimizations in version 10.0.0. To ensure a consistent gameplay experience across platforms, certain non-essential elements outside the main battle arena will be temporarily hidden in Splat Zones, Tower Control, Rainmaker, and Clam Blitz modes. This adjustment aims to minimize any performance differences between the Switch and Switch 2, providing a smoother and more balanced competitive environment. Don’t worry, all elements remain visible in Recon Mode!
New Stage: Urchin Underpass Returns
A beloved stage from the original Splatoon on the Wii U makes its triumphant return in update 10.0.0: Urchin Underpass! This classic map is sure to evoke nostalgic feelings for veterans while providing a fresh and exciting battleground for newer players. Its familiar layout offers a blend of tight corridors and open areas, encouraging strategic gameplay and intense firefights. Get ready to ink the underpass and dominate the turf!
Introducing the Splatlands Collection: New Weapons!
Prepare to arm yourself with a plethora of new weaponry with the arrival of the Splatlands Collection! This update introduces 30 brand-new weapon kits from the Barazushi and Emberz brands, offering a diverse range of playstyles and strategic options. Whether you prefer close-quarters combat, long-range sniping, or a more balanced approach, there’s bound to be a weapon kit that suits your taste. Head to the shops after applying the update to browse the Splatlands Collection and discover your new favorite weapon!
Anarchy Battle (Series) – Series Weapon Feature
Rank S players and above are in for a treat with the new Series Weapon feature in Anarchy Battle (Series)! This innovative system measures your “Series Weapon Power” for each weapon you equip and matches you with opponents who have a similar power level for that specific weapon. This encourages players to experiment with different weapons and promotes balanced matchups based on weapon proficiency. Your Series Weapon Power resets each season, but your highest achieved value will be recorded on SplatNet 3.
Changes to SplatNet 3
SplatNet 3 gets a refresh with the 10.0.0 update, adding new features to enhance your online experience. Keep track of your performance and showcase your skills with these additions:
- Best Nine Display: Showcase your nine most powerful weapons based on Series Weapon Power.
- Best Nine Rankings: Compete against other players in rankings based on the combined Series Weapon Power of their Best Nine weapons.
- In-App Notifications: Stay informed with SplatNet 3 notifications now appearing in the Nintendo Switch App’s notification box.
Freshness Level Increased
Aim for the stars! The maximum Freshness level for weapons has been increased to a whopping 10 stars! Reaching Freshness levels 6 through 10 unlocks new badges to proudly display your mastery of specific weapons. For players who have already accumulated significant XP on their weapons, their Freshness level will automatically increase proportionally after playing a single battle following the update. Time to grind those weapons and earn those shiny new badges!
Additional Changes and Adjustments
Beyond the major additions, update 10.0.0 includes several smaller but impactful changes and adjustments:
- New badges are available based on the number of weapons you’ve mastered (Freshness ★★★★ or higher).
- Players you’ve battled with in Anarchy Battle (Series) and Splatfest Battle (Pro) will no longer appear in the “Users You Have Played With” system on your Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 console.
- Rank Point changes in Anarchy Battle (Open) have been increased by approximately 2.5x.
- In X Battles, call signs, automatically generated based on equipped gear, will display instead of nicknames (actual nicknames remain visible on results screens and X Rankings).
Overall, the Splatoon 3 Ver. 10.0.0 update brings a wealth of exciting additions and improvements to the game. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a fresh-faced newcomer, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in this latest iteration. So, grab your favorite weapon, gather your team, and prepare to dive headfirst into the enhanced world of Splatoon 3!
