Preparing for the World Unchosen
The post-game in Dragon’s Dogma 2 throws you into a dramatically altered world with increased difficulty. Prior preparation is crucial for survival. Before venturing forth, ensure you’re at a high level and equipped with the best possible gear. Place Portcrystals strategically throughout the map, especially in major settlements, to facilitate rapid travel. Strengthening your relationships with key factions, particularly in Vermund, Battahl, and the Sacred Arbor, can also be beneficial for quests and support.
Load up on essential supplies like Wakestones, used for reviving fallen characters, and Ferrystones, allowing you to teleport to Portcrystals. This is the time to utilize your most potent items, as the challenges ahead will demand it. Consider crafting or purchasing powerful restorative items. A well-stocked inventory will be your greatest asset in the “World Unchosen.”
How to Start the Post Game
Upon defeating the Dragon, you’ll witness an ending sequence culminating in a coronation ceremony. To initiate the post-game, resist the urge to sit on the throne. Instead, locate the Pathfinder, who is usually found near the throne. Engage in conversation with the Pathfinder, and you will be transported back to the Dragon fight. During the final encounter with the Dragon, when atop the beast and confronting its glowing heart, use the Godsbane Blade on yourself to trigger the alternative ending and enter the post-game state.
This pivotal moment requires you to actively choose a different path, foregoing the traditional ending. Utilizing the Godsbane Blade on yourself signifies a desire to challenge fate and confront the dire consequences that await in the World Unchosen. This action propels you into a new, challenging chapter of the game.
World Unchosen’s State
The “World Unchosen” presents a drastically different environment. The skies turn a perpetual, ominous red. Powerful, undead enemies, like Liches and Skeletons, begin to appear regardless of the time of day. The seas in the center of the map recede, revealing a new, previously submerged area to explore. This world is under a strict time limit of seven days; failure to progress will lead to the world’s destruction, forcing you to restart the cycle.
Adding to the urgency, formidable bosses known as Purgeners emerge, each marked by a beacon of light. Defeating these Purgeners is paramount, as they grant Wyrmslife Crystals, which are valuable for endgame gear, and crucially, extend the world’s lifespan, granting you more time to complete quests and explore. Prioritize confronting these bosses to ensure your survival.
Evacuation Quests
Central to the post-game are five evacuation quests, each focused on safeguarding the major settlements from the impending doom. These are: “Civil Unrest” (Bakbattahl), “The Regentkin’s Resolve” (Vernworth), “Wandering Roots” (Sacred Arbor), “The Importance of Aiding Ernesto” (Volcanic Island Camp), and “Shepherd of the Pawns” (Excavation Site). Successfully completing these quests is vital for achieving the true ending of Dragon’s Dogma 2. Each quest presents unique challenges and requires careful planning and execution.
These quests not only provide a sense of urgency and purpose but also offer the opportunity to interact with various characters and factions, further enriching the game’s lore. Each evacuation effort requires a tailored approach, testing your problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex social situations under extreme pressure.
General Tips
Don’t hesitate to expend valuable resources. This phase of the game is designed to push you to your limits. Utilize items like Unmaking Arrows and potent restorative consumables freely. Ferrystones and Wakestones are more readily available during the post-game, so use them without reservation.
Avoid resting at inns or campsites unless absolutely necessary. Time is of the essence in the World Unchosen, and sleeping will cost you valuable days. You can only rest safely after clearing all four beacons and eliminating the Purgeners. Carry holy-enchanted weapons at all times, as undead enemies are prevalent throughout the map. Also consider exploring the Seafloor Shrine; it is filled with chests and valuables.
Post Game Rewards
Wyrmslife Crystals obtained from defeating Purgeners can be exchanged with the Dragonforged for powerful endgame equipment. The Dragonforged offers some of the best gear in the game. Furthermore, the Dragonforged can enhance your weapons, reducing their weight and boosting their stats. This process, known as Dragonforging, requires Wyrmslife Crystals and is essential for optimizing your character’s combat capabilities. The rewards are well worth the effort, providing a significant advantage in the final stages of the game.
Acquiring and upgrading your gear with Wyrmslife Crystals becomes the primary focus in the post-game. This allows players to refine their builds and prepare for the ultimate challenges that await, making the acquisition of Wyrmslife Crystals a driving force for exploration and combat.
