Are you ready to craft the perfect Pokémon team? Planet Pokémon offers a fantastic tool to help you strategize and optimize your team for various games. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or just starting your Pokémon journey, the Pokémon Planner is designed to assist you every step of the way.
This planner lets you delve into the specifics of each Pokémon, from movesets to stats and even held items. The best part? It’s tailored to specific games, ensuring you’re working with the correct available Pokémon. It’s time to dive in and learn how to effectively utilize the Pokémon Planner!
Getting Started
The first thing you’ll want to do is head to Planet Pokémon and navigate to the Pokémon Planner tool. Find the “Change Game” option at the top of the screen. This is where you’ll select the specific Pokémon game you’re planning for, such as Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Scarlet and Violet, or Sword and Shield.
Also, make sure you are logged in to Planet Pokémon before doing anything else, especially if you plan to save your team for later use. Look for the “Login” button in the top right corner. Creating an account is a breeze if you’re a new user. Getting logged in upfront prevents any frustration later down the line!
Adding Pokémon
Once you have your game selected, you can start building your team. The planner provides six “Choose Pokémon” slots for you to fill. Click on one of these slots to open a comprehensive list of available Pokémon for the game you selected. This ensures you’re only selecting from the creatures you can actually obtain in that game.
You can search the Pokémon list by scrolling, typing a name, or filtering by type. The type filter is especially useful for finding dual-type Pokémon. If you are working in a game with Mega Evolutions, a Mega Pokémon option will limit the available Pokémon to those that can Mega Evolve. With the complete Pokédex at your fingertips, you can assemble your dream team, whether it includes legendaries, pre-evolved forms, or anything in between!
Adding Stats
Now that you’ve chosen your Pokémon, it’s time to customize their stats. The stats section is displayed on the left of the Planner. You’ll see the base stats of the Pokémon as a starting point. From there, you can adjust the level, EVs (Effort Values), and IVs (Individual Values) to fine-tune your Pokémon’s potential.
By default, the level is set to 100, optimal for planning your final team builds. If you’re planning for a lower-level team, just change the value manually or use the slider. Changing the level automatically adjusts the stats, so be sure to select your level before diving into EVs and IVs.
Adding Moves
Every Pokémon needs a good moveset! Click the “Add Move” button located under the “Moves” heading on the right side of the Planner. This opens a menu featuring every single move your chosen Pokémon can learn in the selected game.
The list will include moves learned through leveling up, TMs (Technical Machines) and HMs (Hidden Machines). You can search for a specific move or browse through the available options. Don’t forget, Pokémon can only know four moves at any given time. If you want to swap one out, select “Change” over the move slot you want to replace.
Adding Items
Giving your Pokémon the right held item can be the difference between victory and defeat. To equip an item, click the “Add Item” button. This brings up a list of all the available items within the specific game you’re working with. You can scroll to find the item or type the item’s name in the search field.
Once you’ve found the item you want, simply click on it to equip it to your Pokémon. After equipping your item, move on to the next member of your team and repeat the process. Experiment with different item combinations to optimize your team’s potential and cover a wide range of situations.
How to Save Your Team
After carefully crafting your dream team, you’ll want to save it for future reference. First and foremost, ensure you’re logged in to your Planet Pokémon account. If not, log in via the “Login” button. Next, click the “Manage Teams” button that appears above your Pokémon team lineup.
In the “Manage Teams” section, you can name your team in the “Name Your Team” box, create folders to organize different team builds, and save your work by clicking “Save Current Team.” Your team is automatically saved to the folder you have selected. You can always edit the name, copy it to create an altered version, or delete a team from this menu.
A Note on Hidden Stats
Understanding EVs and IVs is essential for competitive battling, but these stats are often “hidden” in the game itself. IVs, or Individual Values, are inherent to each Pokémon and range from 0 to 31 for each stat. A higher IV translates to a higher stat value. They cannot be changed without Hyper Training.
EVs, or Effort Values, are earned by battling and training. Each Pokémon can have a maximum of 510 EVs, with a maximum of 252 EVs contributing to a single stat. EVs can be manipulated through items like vitamins and berries. Planet Pokémon’s tool helps visualize and manipulate these hidden stats to achieve your desired results.
