iGV took a look at the presentation of the new season in advance and asked the developers questions. Buy POE2 Currency now and get ahead in the game as Path of Exile 2 brings massive changes in its big season update. Especially in the classes, you can say goodbye to well-known ones and embrace the fresh mechanics introduced.

What kind of update is this?

With the new season update “Dawn of the Hunt”, the developers of Path of Exile 2 will release the first new season for the ARPG on April 4, 2025 at 9:00 p.m. This includes over 100 new support skills, over 100 new unique items and a new class, as well as three new Ascendancy classes for existing classes.

Also new is the Ascendancy class for the witch, the Lich (in German: “corpse”), which relies on chaos, curses, minions and undead and could thus fulfill the long-awaited dreams of many Minion players.

The patch also starts a new league in the game, so everyone can start on the same fresh footing. However, the update will also be released for the existing league. So you can test everything on your existing characters before you start again.

What happens to the builds?

In an interview with MeinMMO, PoE2 boss Jonathan Roggers explained the balance. With “Dawn of the Hunt”, all existing skills will receive new stats and the entire ARPG will get a “completely changed balance”.

If you are currently playing one of the OP builds, you will have to say goodbye to it. Roggers told us in the conversation that many builds are simply broken right now and that this will be fixed in the new update. The first thing that came to mind was the skill “Herald of Ice”, which many players use. This will be heavily nerfed.

However, you shouldn’t be afraid, the boss wants there to continue to be strong builds. With over 100 new support skills, as well as the 25 new skills intended for Huntress, there will be a changed, new meta where no build will remain the same as you know it.

Easier endgame

How else will Path of Exile 2 change?

In the presentation of the new content, the developers also addressed the level of difficulty. They realized that the difference between campaign and endgame is too big. In the campaign, everything is geared towards learning mechanics and dying a few times before you get the boss fight down.

This now follows into the endgame. Here, lighter maps, which players usually play at the start of the endgame, will receive respawns. If you die, you can pick up exactly where you just failed. The higher the difficulty of the map, the fewer respawns there will be.

Was there also a surprise?

Yes, the presentation featured a mount that comes into play at the same time as the Huntress. On an ostrich-like creature, your characters will be able to fight enemies and move faster across the map in the future.

However, the mount has the disadvantage that you are thrown off after taking too much damage and are dazed for a short time. It remains to be seen how much benefit this interesting innovation actually brings to the game.

With the new update, many other important innovations come into play. The endgame in particular is supposed to contain some fresh content such as changes to the towers in the Atlas, many new crafting opportunities and so-called Rogue Exiles, which are supposed to represent other players and how they can fight against you in a PvP battle. The Rogue Exiles are supposed to be better and smarter than ordinary bosses.
