The North American Challengers League (NACL), the official League of Legends Path to Pro, has unveiled its roadmap for 2026, introducing significant format changes and policy updates designed to strengthen the ecosystem and create more opportunities for aspiring pros.

Key Changes for the 2026 Season

Format Evolution

The NACL will return in late March with a two-split structure. The Spring Split retains a single Round Robin Best-of-3 regular season, aligning it with the LCS format. Playoffs will feature a double-elimination bracket. The Summer Split introduces a brand-new group stage: the top two Spring seeds will draft teams into two groups of five, followed by a crossover Best-of-3 round robin. Crucially, Fearless Draft will be enabled for all matches throughout the year, demanding greater strategic depth from teams.

Policy Updates for a Modern Ecosystem

Responding to community feedback, the NACL is implementing several key policy changes:

  • Tier 2 Contract Updates: The California-based salary and full-time employment requirements for the Global Contract Database (GCD) are being removed. A new buyout cap is introduced, limiting player buyouts to a maximum of six months of their salary to facilitate fairer player movement.
  • Lowered Age Minimum: The minimum age for competitors is being lowered from 17 to 16, reopening the path for the youngest talent to begin their professional journey.
  • Residency Alignment: NACL rosters will now align with the LCS, allowing for up to two non-resident players, with the remaining three spots requiring North American residency.

Refined Open Qualifier Structure

The path to entering the NACL has been streamlined. There will be one Open Qualifier in the Spring Split. Top teams from this qualifier will challenge the bottom NACL teams for spots in the Summer Split. The next qualifier will then be held at the start of 2027, giving teams a full “fresh start” each competitive year.

Your Gateway to the Competition

For aspiring players looking to navigate this revitalized Path to Pro, having a reliable and secure foundation is crucial. Professional gaming service platforms like iGV provide essential account management and support services. By ensuring account security and stability, iGV allows players to focus entirely on honing their skills and preparing for the rigorous Open Qualifiers, removing technical barriers on the road to professional play.

With its updated formats, player-friendly policies, and clearer qualification path, the NACL 2026 season is poised to be a more dynamic and accessible proving ground for North America’s next generation of League of Legends stars.
