What are Credits in Valorant?
Credits are the in-game currency used to purchase weapons, abilities, and shields in Valorant. You earn credits throughout the match based on your performance and the outcome of each round.
- Starting Credits: Every player begins the match with 800 credits (pistol round).
- Kill Bonus: Earn 200 credits for each enemy player you kill.
- Spike Bonus: Earn 300 credits for planting the Spike (attacking side only).
- Round Win: Earn 3000 credits for each round victory.
- Round Loss:
- 1900 credits for a single round loss.
- 2400 credits for two consecutive round losses.
- 2900 credits for three or more consecutive round losses.
- Survival Bonus: If you survive a round, you’ll get 1000 credits, as you’ll carry your weapon into the next round.
Types of Buys
Understanding different buy types is crucial for managing your team’s economy and setting up strategic plays.
Full Buy
A full buy involves purchasing the most expensive weapons, like the Phantom, Vandal, Operator, or Odin, along with full shields (heavy or light) and all of your abilities.
Half Buy
A half buy is a more conservative approach where you prioritize affordability. You might choose weapons like SMGs (Spectre or Stinger), shotguns (Judge or Bucky), Marshal, Bulldog, or Guardian, and mix in a combination of light and heavy shields. This is an effective strategy for building your economy towards a full buy in the next round.
Eco Round
An eco round is a complete save round where you prioritize preserving your credits for future rounds. Players typically stick with their Classic pistol or only buy a Sheriff. The goal is to prioritize getting kills and forcing the enemy team to rebuy weapons, hurting their economy in the process.
Force Buy
A force buy is a risky strategy used when your team is facing a significant deficit in credits or needs to secure a win. This involves buying the best weapons possible, even if it means sacrificing future economy, to try and win the round.
Buying Past the Third Round
After the initial three rounds, the focus shifts to maintaining a healthy economy and strategically utilizing your credits.
- Target Credit Range: Aim for 3900-4500 credits. This allows you to buy a rifle and full shields (3900) or purchase everything, including abilities (4500+).
- Opponent’s Economy: Keep an eye on the scoreboard to assess your opponents’ credit situation. This will give you insight into their potential buy types and help you adjust your strategy.
- Strategic Adjustments: Based on your team’s credit situation and the opponent’s potential buy, make strategic decisions about your buy type, prioritizing either strong weapons and abilities or saving for a later round.
By understanding the credit system and mastering different buy strategies, you’ll gain a significant advantage in Valorant. Remember to communicate with your team, coordinate your buys, and adjust your plans based on the flow of the match.
