Lords of the Fallen 1.010 Patch Notes
Lords of the Fallen Update Today: Some Bosses Are Now More Difficult
The latest update for Lords of the Fallen, version 1.010, introduces significant adjustments to the game’s difficulty curve. Instead of simply tweaking damage numbers, Hexworks has focused on challenging specific bosses more directly. The Spurned Progeny, a mid-game encounter in Upper Calrath, now exhibits relentless combo attacks, making precise timing and strategic positioning even more crucial. Furthermore, the trio of secret bosses within the Umbral Realm arena are now more mobile and less susceptible to environmental traps. They can now freely navigate the arena, increasing the tactical complexities associated with engaging these formidable foes.
While some bosses were made more challenging, several enemies received damage reductions. The Scarlet Shadows and various zombified creatures have had their offensive capabilities toned down. These adjustments should help strike a better balance between enemy strength and player survivability. Notably, the Charred Spirits, part of the zombified enemy group, have experienced a further decrease in damage output.
Lords of the Fallen Patch Notes Adds Gameplay Improvements
Beyond the adjustments to boss and enemy encounters, the 1.010 patch primarily focuses on enhancing various aspects of the gameplay experience. This includes refining the user interface, addressing performance concerns, and making crucial balancing changes. Let’s delve into specific improvements.
Sentry Reporting Tool Issues Fixed
- Inventory Crashes: Problems with inventory filtering and item removal have been rectified, preventing crashes that previously occurred when users filtered items (e.g., DLC items no longer in possession).
- NPC Interaction Bugs: Fixed a crash that was triggered by interacting with specific NPCs under certain conditions. The patch addressed this by ensuring the character was “ready” before interaction attempts, ensuring smoother player progression.
- C++ Timer Issues: The C++ timer for fog gates now operates correctly.
- Inventory Component Issues: Resolved a crash that arose from incorrect ammo selection identification without the correct inventory component.
- Soulflay Crashes: Corrections have been implemented to fix crashes that arose during the Soulflay mechanic when dealing with particular entities.
- Item Description Crashes: The update resolves crashes that could occur while setting descriptions for items no longer present in the inventory, such as DLC items.
- Item Pick-Up Montage: An issue where items would vanish during the pick-up montage has been addressed.
- Trigger Event Payload: Corrected the trigger event payload for improved stability.
PvP and PvE Adjustments
The update has addressed notable issues related to player matchmaking in both PvP and PvE modes. The patch notes highlight improved stability and connection reliability to minimize the occurrences of “can’t connect” errors and excessive “rubber banding.” The priority now given to players with good ping in matchmaking should lead to more consistent and responsive multiplayer experiences, albeit with slightly increased connection establishment times.
- Matchmaking Priority: Players with lower ping values are prioritized to improve latency consistency, even if this means an increased wait time for matches.
- Orian Protector Adjustments: The Orian Protector feature has been temporarily disabled for a planned rework to create a more engaging experience. Previously, this feature caused confusion due to the helper joining fights for the player being invaded.
- Multiplayer Timing Adjustments: The update has adjusted multiplayer timings and ping values to create more stable connections between players, optimizing the match search process.
Balancing Updates
Various balancing adjustments touch on runes and weapon classes, creating a more nuanced gameplay experience. These changes emphasize a more balanced meta where player choice and strategic considerations are more critical.
- One-Handed Greatsword Tweaks: Minor damage adjustments to one-handed greatswords have been applied, particularly focusing on the second-hit damage of forward heavies to align better with their animations.
- Status Effect Resistances: Status effect resistances from rings and runes have received significant boosts to make them more effective and desirable options within player builds.
Quests
- Slave Hunter Dagger Duplication: The moving merchant now sells two copies of the Slave Hunter Dagger to encourage players to experiment with the two-handed knife style, a powerful and highly sought-after weapon combination that may eventually receive nerfs in the future.
- NPC Corpse Fix: An issue where a specific NPC corpse could be interacted with before the quest requirements were fulfilled has been fixed.
