Lies of P: Truths & Lies Revealed

In the grim, puppet-infested city of Krat, Lies of P presents players with a unique challenge beyond its demanding combat: the nuanced art of deception. As P, a sentient puppet striving to become human, your choices between truth and lies are not mere dialogue options. These decisions profoundly impact the unfolding narrative, P’s evolving humanity, and even the very ending you experience. Every interaction offers a moral crossroads, compelling players to consider the weight of honesty versus the strategic advantage of a well-placed falsehood.

What are the Effects of Telling a Truth or a Lie?

The moral choices you make throughout your journey as P significantly shape your experience in Lies of P. These decisions have far-reaching consequences, primarily influencing the story’s conclusion, unlocking special items, and revealing deeper lore. Understanding these impacts is crucial for navigating Krat effectively.

  • Multiple Endings: Your commitment to either truth or deception dictates which of the game’s three distinct endings you achieve. While one outcome serves as a default, consistently leaning towards honesty or lies unlocks the “Rise of P” or “Free from a Puppet String” conclusions. It’s not about perfection but a clear leaning in most pivotal moments, signaled by P’s internal notifications reflecting his humanity.
  • The Golden Lie Secret Weapon: A truly unique reward, the “Golden Lie” weapon, can be acquired by embracing a path of consistent dishonesty. To unlock this special item, you must not only lie frequently but also display the “Portrait of a Boy” in Hotel Krat and play all collected records. As P’s humanity deepens, a branch will grow from the portrait, eventually allowing you to claim this powerful weapon in a post-campaign stage.
  • Record Rewards: Beyond major narrative shifts, your choices also influence the records you discover. Engaging with various characters and responding either truthfully or with deceit can lead to receiving specific records. These collectibles offer valuable insights into the game’s backstory, characters’ motivations, and the intricate lore of Krat, enriching your understanding of the world P inhabits.
