How do I increase my Mastery Rank (MR)?
Warframe Mastery Rank (MR) is a measure of how much a player has leveled various items in the game. It’s not a direct indication of skill, but rather a reflection of how many Warframes, weapons, Archwing, and companions you’ve leveled up. Each item can only contribute to MR once, even if you re-level it after using a Forma. Here are some ways to increase your MR:
- Leveling Warframes, Companions, and Vehicles: These provide 6,000 MR points each upon reaching level 30.
- Leveling Weapons: Weapons give 3,000 MR points each when they reach level 30.
- Completing Junctions: Defeating the Specters at Junctions rewards 1,000 MR points.
- First-time Mission Completion: Completing a mission node for the first time will grant you MR points.
- Gilding Zaws and Kitguns: Zaws and Kitguns require gilding to earn MR.
What are the benefits?
While MR may seem like a simple counter, it offers substantial benefits to all players.
- Increased Trading Limits: The number of daily trades you can make is directly tied to your MR. Higher MR allows more trades.
- Access to Powerful Items: Some of the most sought-after Warframes and weapons, like the Rubico Prime, are locked behind specific MR requirements.
- Larger Void Trace Capacity: Your Void Trace capacity increases by 50 per MR, making it easier to farm Relics.
- Increased Daily Limits: Syndicate Standing and Focus Points earned through Lenses have daily limits determined by MR.
What is Affinity and how is it related to MR?
Affinity is Warframe’s experience system. You earn it by using Warframes, weapons, Archwing, and companions in missions. The more you use an item, the more Affinity it gains, ultimately leading to leveling it up. Here’s how Affinity connects to MR:
- Leveling for MR: The Affinity you gain while leveling an item contributes to your MR progress.
- Affinity Boosts: These double the Affinity earned for a set duration, accelerating the leveling process and MR advancement.
- MR Tests: Once your Affinity bar fills, you become eligible for the next MR test. Passing the test unlocks the next MR level.
What are MR tests?
MR tests are solo challenges that must be completed to advance to the next MR level. They involve specific objectives, and their difficulty increases with each MR. Here’s what you need to know about MR tests:
- Solo Requirement: You cannot complete MR tests with teammates.
- Failure and Timeout: Failing a test or disconnecting will lock it for 24 hours.
- Practice Mode: You can practice MR tests without consequences in Cephalon Simaris’ room at a Relay. You can even revisit past tests here.
Should I chase It?
While some players focus on maximizing their MR, it’s not essential for progression through the main campaign. Most players naturally increase their MR by acquiring and leveling new items.
- Benefits of High MR: Higher MR provides benefits like increased trading, access to powerful gear, and higher daily limits.
- Collector’s Focus: Some players aim for the maximum MR (currently 27), collecting and leveling every item.
- Personal Goals: Decide how much MR is important to you. You can level up enough to access the items you want or continue to explore the game at your own pace.
