Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s massive update 1.2 is here, bringing a bevy of improvements and fixes, including a much-requested barber shop and Steam Workshop modding support. This patch addresses over a thousand issues, enhancing various aspects of the game.

New

Barber

The highly anticipated barber shop feature has arrived in Zhelejov and Kuttenberg. Players can now visit the barber to change Henry’s hairstyle, from a clean-shaven look to a rugged beard. This change affects Henry’s charisma, mirroring real-life effects. Each new look gives a momentary boost, providing a practical incentive for a fresh cut.

Features

Achievements

Several achievement tweaks address reliability. Skill checks are now adjusted to unlock the “Close One” achievement more predictably, and the “The Lord Taketh Away” achievement’s spontaneous unlocking has been fixed.

Alchemy

Enhancements in alchemy focus on visual polish. Improved lighting, a refined fire texture, and a fixed pouring animation (eliminating a flash effect) provide a more immersive experience. A minor localization fix in the alchemy recipe list completes these changes.

Animals

Animal interactions have been refined to improve their behaviors. Dying animations and ragdoll physics for cows and bulls are enhanced, along with fixes for several spawners. Mutt’s interactions with hares and overall animal movement are now more responsive and realistic, further enriching the world. These adjustments offer a smoother and more natural feel to animal interactions.

Archery range

The archery range experience is now more seamless. Arrows are automatically re-equipped after archery contests, and the issue of competitor NPCs ceasing to shoot during the contests has been addressed, improving the overall functionality.

Balancing

The game’s overall balance has been re-evaluated and tweaked in several key areas. From food spoilage rates to weapon durability and the impact of drunkenness, the balance modifications are extensive, affecting the game’s pace and difficulty in subtle but impactful ways. The rebalancing covers a wide array of aspects, from the overall difficulty to specific equipment and resources, aiming for a more balanced and engaging experience.

Blacksmithing

The blacksmithing minigame has undergone general rebalancing. This includes visual improvements to the workpiece cooling process and new horseshoe recipes added to several merchants and locations. Additionally, the game removes bezoar from the alchemy section to improve the gameplay loop.

Carts

Cart interaction and functionality have been adjusted. The interaction range for boarding carts has been increased, and issues with carts not despawning correctly and players dying after dismounting have been fixed. This patch also smooths out the cart experience, making interactions more reliable.

Combat

Combat mechanics have been refined with several adjustments to animations, damage, and player/NPC reactions. These modifications to combat interactions include tweaks to attack combos, facial animations, and weapon drawing animations. Various issues with audio cues and weapon/NPC interaction have also been fixed to enhance combat scenarios. The patch also aims to correct some unintended behaviors and fixes various bugs to ensure smooth combat sequences and consistent enemy responses.

Crime

NPC reactions to criminal activities have been reviewed. Reactions to various crimes, from thefts to violence, are more logical and appropriate, improving the overall simulation of criminal scenarios. Visual fixes and dialogue improvements further refine these encounters for a more coherent and intuitive experience.

Cutscenes

Numerous visual and technical issues within cutscenes have been fixed, enhancing the visual experience and ensuring smooth transitions. The update fixes a range of problems, including stuttering, visual inconsistencies, and issues with player helmet visors within the cutscenes.

Daily life

Daily routines for NPCs have been improved, making them feel more natural and realistic within the environments. New animations have been added for actions such as sweeping, and shop door logic and other activities now function more smoothly. New interactions with the environments and NPCs enhance the daily life experience.

Dice

Dice gameplay has seen adjustments to the monetary rewards, the agility experience gain associated with starting a dice game, and collision issues are addressed in this patch, ensuring smooth transitions.

Environment

Environments have been tweaked extensively to improve visual appeal and consistency. From minor lighting and texture fixes in key locations to more natural navigation for NPCs, and addressing terrain and collision issues, the update significantly improves the game’s environments and enhances the overall visual aesthetic. This encompasses both visual enhancements and functional changes, providing a more immersive environment for gameplay.

Fast/travel

Fast travel options have been refined. A new fast-travel point has been added to Bozhena’s hut. Dialogue prompts for activating fast travel are more consistent during quest execution. Issues in the fast travel interface have also been corrected.

Horse riding

Horse riding has been adjusted to improve the auto-follow feature and overall horse-related behaviors. The auto-follow function is more reliable, especially when the horse’s stamina is low, and a general improvement of road magnetism and interactions with surrounding obstacles ensures smoother interactions. The overall horse handling experience is better.

Horse trading

Horse trading has been adjusted, especially regarding the Semine transaction, and the automatic equipping of purchased horse gear.

Characters

Character models, animations, and textures have been improved throughout the game, especially for specific characters. Various visual assets have been refined and polished to ensure greater character realism and visual consistency. This includes updates for Rosa and other key figures, and to improve textures and quality for different outfits.

Maintenance

NPCs can now repair bows and crossbows, the system for cleaning blood and dirt from equipment has been revisited, the visual effects of damaged firearm explosions have been improved, and several other maintenance-related fixes ensure a more robust and immersive experience. These adjustments address inconsistencies, improve visual feedback, and provide a more reliable gameplay loop.

Music

Music has been adjusted in multiple locations, especially in the Trosky region and Opatowitz village, for enhanced atmosphere and to better suit the game’s environment and specific gameplay scenarios.

Mutt

Mutt’s features have been refined. The addition of a map marker for Mutt during tasks in Zhelejov and Devil’s Den, the adjustments to Mutt’s interaction with the food. and fixes for Mutt’s behavior and interactions. These changes further improve the companion’s capabilities and functionality.

Performance

Game performance has been improved across the board, with various optimizations for specific areas like Kuttenberg marketplaces and general frame rate stability during battles and level transitions. Several aspects of the game’s performance have been enhanced, offering better gameplay experiences and stability.

Photo mode

Controls for opening Photo Mode on controllers have been revised, and issues with persistent controller vibrations and other platform-specific issues are resolved.

Platform-specific fixes

Platform-specific issues on various systems have been addressed, with a focus on improving controller functionality (adaptive triggers, audio on headphones). Fixes for PC, PS5, Steam Deck, and Xbox systems address specific control issues and provide a more consistent experience across different platforms.

PROS

Fixes and improvements for the PROS feature address issues with invalid results and rare disconnections.

Random events

Skills & Perks

Skill experience values and perk functionality have been rebalanced, and the effects of various perks like Warmonger, Next to Godliness, and others are more consistent. Certain perk glitches have been resolved for a more straightforward experience.

Stealth

Gameplay relating to stealth, including clothing and equipment suited to stealth, has been adjusted and improved in this patch, alongside fixes that ensured visual consistency in areas relevant to stealth.

Takedowns

The takedown mechanic has been refined with improvements to animations for lying NPCs. This also includes visual polish, including screams from NPCs during stealth killings, for a more immersive experience.

Tutorials

Tutorials and prompts, including those for horse riding and combat, have been updated for a more clear and helpful experience.

UI

User Interface elements have been updated to improve clarity, consistency, and performance. This includes minor tweaks to map markers, inventory displays, notifications, and other aspects of the UI.

Miscellaneous

Fixes are made for various visual glitches, from enabling DLSS 4 and other graphic related bugs, to resolving general visual issues, including visual pop-in, shader combinations, and other irregularities, providing a smoother visual experience.

Quests

Hundreds of individual quest fixes have been applied, addressing issues with quest progression, NPC interactions, dialogue, and other related issues, ensuring that each quest flows more smoothly. This includes fixes for a broad range of quest issues.
