Where to Find All Daedalian Keys in Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy offers an engaging open-world experience, filled with exciting quests. Among these is the Daedalian Keys quest, a rewarding challenge that sends you on a castle-wide scavenger hunt. This side quest tasks you with locating 16 enchanted flying keys. Finding them unlocks House Cabinets, eventually rewarding you with a unique House Robe. Starting the Daedalian Keys Quest
To initiate the Daedalian Keys quest, you must first complete “Welcome to Hogsmeade.” Upon your return to Hogwarts, head to the Transfiguration Courtyard. There, you’ll encounter Nellie Oggspire near the Astronomy Wing. Speak with her to begin the quest. She will explain the reappearance of the Daedalian Keys and encourage you to catch one. This conversation officially unlocks the questline and sets you on your journey to find all sixteen keys hidden throughout Hogwarts.
How to Unlock the Cabinets Using Daedalian Keys
Once the quest starts, your first task is to locate a Daedalian Key. When you find one and approach it, the key will fly off toward a nearby House Cabinet. These cabinets are usually located in the immediate vicinity of the key. To unlock the cabinet, interact with it to start a minigame. The key will flit around the keyhole. Press the interact button when the key passes directly over the keyhole. Success grants you a House Token. Collect all tokens and return them to your House Chest in your Common Room.
Daedalian Key Locations
The First Key: Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom
Begin your search by fast traveling to the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom Floo Flame. Descend to the main lobby. Look for a Rhinoceros skeleton. The first key hovers near it. Once you have found the key, head up the adjacent stairs, turn left, and then take another left. The House Cabinet awaits you at the end of this short path.
The Second Key: Central Hall
Fast travel to the Central Hall Floo Flame to reach the second key. Proceed down the stairs and turn right at the fountain. You’ll spot the key near the entrance to the Greenhouse. To locate the corresponding House Cabinet, simply follow the key as it leads you to the opposite set of stairs, positioned near the door to the Transfiguration Courtyard.
The Third Key: Library Annex
The third key resides in the Library Annex, accessible through the Upper Central Hall. Use the Central Hall Floo Flame to teleport, but instead of descending the stairs, ascend them. Before reaching the large doors leading to the viaduct, examine the right side of the room, just behind the staircase. The key is there. Follow it back down the stairs, where the cabinet is located to the right.
The Fourth Key: Also the Library Annex
Since you’re already in the Library Annex, continue your search for the fourth Daedalian Key. Fast travel to the Library Floo Flame. Approach the bookcases closest to the Floo Flame to find it. This key will lead you to the opposite side of the library, in a back corner. Look carefully to find its cabinet nestled amongst the bookshelves.
The Fifth Key: Bell Tower
Teleport to the Bell Tower Courtyard Floo Flame, then turn left to see the first set of stairs. The Daedalian Key will be flying behind you up the stairs. Follow it. Head to the top of the stairs to find the House Cabinet past a large wooden crate. Be mindful of your surroundings as you navigate the tower.
The Sixth Key: Dungeon
Instead of going up in the Bell Tower, head down to the dungeons. The path will take you past the location of the House Cabinet. Find the Daedalian Key near a large dragon statue; use Revelio to reveal its Field Guide page. The cabinet will be passed on the way to the dragon statue, it’s on the main route leading into the dungeons.
The Seventh Key: Also the Dungeon
Enter the Dungeon along the opposite hallway from the dragon statue to locate the seventh key. Follow the key down a passage into a room filled with barrels. The corresponding House Cabinet is in this room, so examine all corners until you find it. You should be able to follow the key to its intended location, as long as you don’t get lost in the dungeon itself.
The Eight Key: History of Magic Classroom
The History of Magic classroom resides in the Astronomy Wing. Fast travel to the Transfiguration Classroom Floo Flame. Turn around and go left through the doors into the North Hall. The key floats just outside the classroom. Follow it up a flight of stairs to the top floor, where the cabinet awaits. Be prepared to traverse the winding corridors to find your target.
The Ninth Key: Grand Staircase
Teleport to the Grand Staircase Floo Flame. Climb the stairs. Locate the key below the floor where a puzzle door is. This key will lead you back down, near the same Floo Flame you used, close to another puzzle door. Always be careful to not fall off the Grand Staircase, as it can be quite high up.
The Tenth Key: Also the Grand Staircase
Return to the Grand Staircase Floo Flame, then head toward the Entrance Hall. From the Reception Hall, take a left. The key flits around the top stair landing. Following it down the stairs, you’ll discover its designated cabinet near a locked door and a boar statue. Make sure to not miss your step while following the key.
The Eleventh Key: Great Hall
The eleventh key calls the Great Hall home. Fast travel to the Viaduct Courtyard Floo Flame. Ascend the courtyard’s stairs and pass through the large doors. This leads you to the entrance hall, where you’ll spot a cabinet on your left. Look up, and the key is on the level above a Hogwarts symbol. The placement can be tricky, so be careful to not miss it.
The Twelfth Key: Also the Great Hall
The twelfth key is in the Great Hall. Teleport to the Great Hall Floo Flame. Turn left to spot the Daedalian Key. Follow it to the opposite side of the entrance, where a puzzle door stands. You need to be quick on your feet to follow this key, as it can be quite fast.
The Thirteenth Key: Quad Courtyard
The Quad Courtyard holds the thirteenth key, but it’s best reached from the Great Hall Floo Flame. Pass through the double doors and descend the stairs. The key awaits you beneath the giant archway. For the House Cabinet, follow it down the stairs to the bottom corner of the Quad Courtyard. It might be hidden from view so check thoroughly.
The Fourteenth Key: Faculty Tower
To access the next keys, including this one, you need to complete “The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament” quest and gain the Alohomora spell. Teleport to the Faculty Tower Floo Flame. Enter the tower. Ascend the stairs to find the key. It leads you back to the cabinet near the tower’s entrance, so backtrack to your starting location.
The Fifteenth Key: Also the Faculty Tower
Go to the Faculty Tower’s highest floor in the South Wing. Find the portraits linking to the Clock Tower. The fifteenth key awaits in this area. Descend to the cabinet by the Prefect Bathroom entrance with the statues. Make sure to look for any potential hiding spots for the key.
The Sixteenth Key: Clock Tower
The final key resides in the Clock Tower; the Alohomora spell is required. Use the Clock Tower Floo Flame and unlock the left door. Ascend the stairs to the walkway’s leftmost section. The key will be here. Follow it to another floor and claim your final House Cabinet. Congratulations, you have found all the keys!
