Helldivers 2: Terminid Tower - Beat Guide

Helldivers 2: How to Conquer the Terminid Control Tower

Terminid Heavy Nerfs

The recent Helldivers 2 patch has introduced significant changes to Terminid enemies, particularly Chargers. The patch nerfs Chargers by reducing their head health, making them more vulnerable to headshotting with the Recoilless Rifle and Expendable Anti-Tank (EAT) weapons. This means more one-shot kills are possible with these precise weapons. However, the patch also appears to have increased the frequency of Hunters. This necessitates diversifying your loadouts for effective combat against both Hunters and the reduced Chargers, so you’re ready for any mission, including Suicide Mission and beyond.

Terminid Control Tower Guide

The Terminid Control Tower mission is a distinct map, similar to Eradication and Research Team evacuation missions. Upon deployment, focus on securing support weapons and backpacks. The initial part of the mission is typically calm, allowing you to prepare. The key objective involves activating three battery silos surrounding the central tower. Find the designated button near the central tower base to begin. Crucially, each Battery Silo has limited health and needs defense from attacking Terminids. Expect a Bug Breach near each Silo, requiring your attention to fend off waves of Terminids.

Proceed through the following steps:

  • Locate and activate the button near Battery Silo 1.
  • Defend the Silo until the health bar is depleted.
  • Repeat the process for Battery Silos 2 and 3.
  • Once all three silos are activated, head to the extraction point.
  • Use the terminal to initiate TCS purgation protocols for the ultimate victory.

Strategies for the Terminid Control Tower Mission

Fortifying your defensive strategy is paramount. Sentry guns are invaluable in this mission due to the lack of civilian friendly fire. The EMS Mortar is a significant asset for suppressing Terminid movement, paving the way for your other weapons to take down the enemy. This effectively disrupts the enemy’s ability to reach the key objective points.

Given the altered spawn rates, you’ll encounter larger waves of chaff-type enemies during Bug Breaches. Employ heavy-duty weapons to clear these overwhelming hordes, such as Eagle Cluster Bombs or Orbital Airbursts, to relieve pressure on the Battery Silos. Effective close-quarters weapons, like the Stalwart, Machine Gun, Arc Thrower, and Flamethrower, prove effective when dealing with Bug Breaches. Remember, the Recoilless Rifle and EAT-17 remain potent anti-Charger/Bile Titan weapons; prioritize them in your squad compositions for Difficulty 6 and beyond.

The EXO-44 mech shines as a powerful offensive tool against most Terminid types. Its accurate minigun and rocket launcher offer substantial firepower. Its high ammo capacity is beneficial for taking down several silos’ worth of Terminids. Prioritize Spewers if present; their corrosive attacks can quickly disable your mech. Accurate minigun headshots should be the initial attack, followed by rocket shots for tougher targets like Chargers and Bile Titans.

Tactics can vary based on difficulty. On lower difficulties, splitting the squad to tackle the three silos simultaneously can save time. However, higher difficulties (Difficulty 6 and beyond) require a cohesive team effort to contain the massive wave of Terminids and Bile Titans. The increasing enemy spawns necessitate a more coordinated and defensive approach.

In conclusion, mastering the Terminid Control Tower mission demands strategic preparation and a well-coordinated team effort, especially on higher difficulties. Adapting your tactics and weaponry to the specific challenges presented by the mission is crucial for success. Remember to prioritize the most threatening Terminids based on the current situation and mission conditions.
