Gorou is a support character in Genshin Impact, specializing in buffing allies, particularly Geo characters. He’s not meant to be a main DPS. His skills focus on enhancing team abilities, with different effects depending on the number of Geo characters in the party.
- Elemental Skill: Inuzaka All-Round Defense: Gorou creates a General’s War Banner that buffs allies within its area. With one Geo character, the banner increases DEF; with two, it increases interruption resistance; and with three, it boosts Geo DMG Bonus by 15%.
- Elemental Burst: Juuga: Forward Unto Victory: Gorou summons a mobile banner that follows him (or the active character) and attacks enemies with Geo DMG every 1.5 seconds. It overwrites existing War Banners and disappears if Gorou falls.
- Ascension Passives: Gorou’s first Ascension passive increases nearby allies’ DEF by 25% for 12 seconds when his Burst is used. His second one boosts his skill damage based on his DEF. He can also reveal Inazuma specialty nodes during exploration.
- Constellations: Gorou’s Constellations enhance his skills. For example, C1 reduces his E cooldown, C2 increases the duration of his Burst, C4 heals allies within his Burst, and C6 boosts the Crit DMG of Geo-infused attacks.
Gorou Item Recommendations
Gorou excels with a DEF build, making 2-set Husk of Opulent Dreams or Defender’s Will ideal choices. Emblem of Severed Fate provides Energy Recharge, while 4-set Noblesse Oblige boosts Crystal Collapse damage and allies’ ATK. The timepiece, cup, and hat’s main stats should focus on Energy Recharge (timepiece), DEF (any), Geo DMG Bonus (cup), or Crit Rate (hat).
Favonius Warbow or Sacrificial Bow are good weapon choices. Favonius Warbow benefits from a Crit Rate hat to keep his Burst up, while Sacrificial Bow allows for repositioning the Banner. Elegy for the End is another option, offering Energy Recharge.
Character Story
Gorou’s journey began as a rank-and-file soldier in the Gorgasia II unit. During a critical operation, his unit faced a crisis: their captain was wounded, and they were surrounded by enemies. Faced with limited options, Gorou proposed a daring plan, sacrificing himself and part of the unit to buy time for the others to call for reinforcements.
His bravery and strategic thinking impressed Sangonomiya Kokomi, leading to his promotion to general. Gorou is strict but humble, always prioritizing his men’s safety. Despite his achievements, he struggles with insecurities about his appearance and his weakness to women like Yae Miko.
He finds solace in the Traveler’s presence, confiding in them about his worries. He also takes on the role of “Ms. Hina,” a columnist offering advice to readers through Yae Miko’s magazine, “That’s Life.”
How He Got His Vision
Gorou’s vision story highlights his dedication to unity and teamwork. He realized that victory comes not from individual strength but from collective effort. He chose to focus on connecting with his men and helping them improve, a decision that might have paved the way for his Geo Vision.
His devotion to teamwork reflects the principles of the Geo Archon, who embodies connection and contracts. By helping his men, Gorou created a contract of support and shared purpose, earning the favor of Celestia and receiving his Geo Vision.
