Best FragPunk Lancers Tierlist: Season 1 Meta
After extensive testing during the FragPunk Beta and its full release, certain Lancers have emerged as standouts. This guide ranks all Lancers, detailing their strengths and weaknesses within the Season 1 meta.
B-Tier
Chum
Chum’s playstyle is straightforward, relying heavily on smokes and grenades. While not flashy, his abilities are crucial for controlling areas, particularly for players familiar with Counter-Strike mechanics. His performance is most effective within a coordinated team, where he supports strategic space control. Solo, Chum struggles to significantly impact gameplay.
Nitro
Nitro excels in defensive scenarios. Her abilities center around emplacement skills, deploying turrets and walls for cover. While these defenses can be bypassed, they offer valuable defensive control. Offensively, Nitro’s drone provides scouting and information gathering. Her defensive presence and reconnaissance are effective, but she lacks significant offensive capabilities in a solo setting.
Sonar
Sonar stands out for her advanced information gathering, focusing on auditory cues and enemy movement. Her radar highlights enemy positions while also capable of masking her team’s footsteps. This provides significant advantage for coordinated teams. Like the other B-tier Lancers, Sonar is most effective when utilized within a cohesive, communicative team.
Jaguar
Jaguar’s expertise lies in defending strategic chokepoints using a mix of traps and smoke. His approach to zone control is more passive compared to Nitro’s turrets, but nonetheless effective. His power relies on enemies encountering and taking damage from his strategically-placed traps. This makes him somewhat situational compared to other, more versatile Lancers in the game.
A-Tier
Axon
Axon excels as an aggressive fragger, maximizing explosive potential and flanking enemy positions. His arsenal of grenades and the “Guitar Shotgun” allows him to displace opponents from cover, with an anti-flash skill for pushing through flashbangs. Axon is a potent early engagement fragger, proving valuable in securing kills for aggressive team pushes.
Serket
Serket’s abilities lack a single, defined focus. Her kit includes teleportation, a damaging tornado, and a pull trap. Serket’s unexpected versatility necessitates tactical proficiency. Her effective use relies on understanding her abilities’ timings and application. Potential for powerful plays, but vulnerability when mismanaged, making precise timing crucial for optimal effectiveness.
Spider
Spider, a master of mobility and strategic placement, excels at flanking and map coverage. His ability to place teleporters provides seamless team movement and strategic position shifts. Spider is a powerful flanker capable of swift map traversal. However, his kit might seem more complicated than others for new players.
Hollowpoint
Hollowpoint is the ultimate sniper. While possessing a tactical smoke and trap ability, she is characterized by her one-shot railgun. Its effectiveness hinges on precise aiming, rewarding accurate flick shots. The railgun’s charging time necessitates strategic anticipation and plays. For skilled players, this Lancer provides exceptional utility as a sniper.
S-Tier
Pathojen
Pathojen stands alone as FragPunk’s dedicated healer. Her role becomes vital in competitive matches where consistent healing is rare. Pathojen provides indispensable support. Her large wall-creation ability offers defensive support and positional advantages, making her an unmatched supporting Lancer.
Corona
Corona dominates objective control with a powerful, aggressive playstyle. His fire field offers damage over time and personal damage reduction. His flashbang further enhances aggressive pushing and objectives. Corona creates a dynamic, forceful style of play, forcing opponents to adjust to his terms.
Kismet
Kismet’s strengths lie in her scouting, flanking, and information gathering abilities. Invisibility provides valuable cover, allowing surprise attacks or the subtle gathering of enemy intel. This adaptability makes her a versatile asset. Kismet excels in a team setting, but also proves capable in solo flanking opportunities.
Zephyr
Though categorized as an assassin, Zephyr possesses surprising defensive capabilities. Her invisibility is balanced by its duration and trigger conditions. However, utilizing her invisibility field provides almost permanent invisibility, making her a dangerous opponent for those attempting objectives. This adds to her versatile offensive presence.
Broker
Broker, a versatile Lancer, combines a well-rounded skillset. His smoke abilities provide effective covering. His rocket launcher provides powerful, impactful area damage. The cherry bomb is equally effective for both offense and defense, providing wide-reaching effects. Broker’s skill set is easy to pick up, proving fun to play solo but strategic within a team setting.
