Dead by Daylight Is Finally Getting a Five Nights at Freddy’s Killer – and He’s Voiced by Matthew Lillard
After nine years of suspense, Behaviour Interactive has answered the prayers of many horror fans by integrating Five Nights at Freddy’s into Dead by Daylight. The asymmetrical multiplayer game will soon feature the iconic universe of Freddy Fazbear, with a significant contribution from Matthew Lillard.
This collaboration has been highly anticipated, and the announcement at Dead by Daylight’s PAX East presentation revealed the extent of the integration. Behaviour Interactive plans to make this a memorable addition for the game’s anniversary in June. The integration includes a new killer with a unique backstory, and more content.
Matthew Lillard, known for his role as William Afton in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, is reprising his role to provide the voice for Springtrap in Dead by Daylight. Springtrap, the evil animatronic bunny, will be available as a Legendary Outfit. This adds a new layer of immersion, giving fans a familiar voice to go along with the frightening visuals.
Behaviour Interactive has described Five Nights at Freddy’s as the “most requested license in Dead by Daylight history.” The update will also feature a Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza map. It has many Easter eggs and surprises for players to discover. More details, including the official release date, are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Wind’s Howling
The inclusion of Five Nights at Freddy’s is not the only exciting news. CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher series is also joining the Dead by Daylight universe. These collaborations are part of an ongoing effort to expand the game’s universe.
The Witcher content will be available as a special Witcher Collection starting June 3. It features outfits inspired by the characters and worlds of the RPG series. Geralt of Rivia will be included, alongside Yennefer, Ciri, Triss, and Eredin.
Dead by Daylight Product Director Rose Li stated, “Our favorite of the Collection is, of course, Geralt’s Legendary Outfit for Vittorio Toscano.” Doug Cockle, the original voice of Geralt, has recorded new lines for the game.
Shudder’s Dragula is strengthening its relationship with Dead by Daylight. A Boulet Brothers Collection will be released on July 8. The collection includes a Winter Warrior outfit for The Huntress and the Boulet Brothers Artist outfit for The Artist. These collaborations diversify the game and provide unique cosmetic options for players.
Blood, Sweat, and Tears
Behaviour Interactive has also announced plans to introduce quality of life improvements. These updates aim to enhance the gameplay experience and address community feedback. The team is committed to making the game more balanced and enjoyable.
The Archives revamp and adjusted Gamma Settings are scheduled for June. The updates will include more spectators in Custom Matches, map and key item rebalancing, and an MMR rework. These changes are aimed at creating a more balanced and competitive experience.
Creative Director Dave Richard teased a unique project: a Dead by Daylight Chapter created by fans. Behaviour Interactive will work with the community to design a Killer and Survivor from the ground up. This interactive narrative will allow players to vote on all aspects of each character, fostering a sense of ownership.
Since its release in 2016, Dead by Daylight has grown significantly. It has included collaborations with Dungeons & Dragons, Resident Evil, and Tokyo Ghoul. These collaborations showcase the game’s ability to integrate with a variety of franchises, enriching the gaming experience.
