What is Patch 11.2 about?
Story spoilers: This point covers the story of patch 11.2.
After the Heart of Darkness has been stolen from Xal’atath’s claws by the Ethereals, we travel to K’aresh to prevent the Ethereals from completing their ritual. They want to summon the Void Lord Dimensius, who would surely devour Azeroth afterwards.
This necessity also makes for unexpected alliances. Because Xal’atath will be our ally in the future and even grants us access to parts of her abilities. She enchants the cape, for example, and also assists us in the fight against Dimensius.
Alleria – but also many others – are skeptical whether Xal’atath can be trusted. But apparently Xal’atath does not have the goal of summoning Dimensius. She has probably discarded the title “Herald of Dimensius” and is now pursuing her own agenda.
Rishii Wrap – The New Artifact Cloak
Very early in the story of patch 11.2, you will get the “Rishii Wraps” – an artifact cloak. You upgrade it over time so that it becomes stronger and gives you more abilities.
The most important ability is “Phase Diving”, which allows you to switch between the normal world and an astral plane. In the astral plane you see different enemies and secrets than in the physical world. This also allows you to use new ways of moving, such as through a network of energy – this is also how you get to the Mana Forge, which will later be the raid.
New Raid: Mana Forge Omega
The manaforgers from “The Burning Crusade” are back – well, at least partially. Here, the Shadow Guardians (a faction of the Ethereals) are in the process of reviving Dimensius.
In total, the raid consists of 8 bosses, of which “Dimensius the All-Eater” is the final opponent. Among these 8 fights, however, there is also one that is completely optional. A triumvirate of demon hunters stands in the way of the heroes – at least when you want to stop by them.
By the way, Dimensius will be by far the biggest boss we’ve ever fought in World of Warcraft. It becomes so huge that it even towers over entire cities.
As in the liberation of Lorenhall, there will also be a fame path in the mana forge Omega, where you automatically unlock various amenities in the raid, such as merchants or damage buffs, over time.
Season 3 of The War Within
Patch 11.2 also marks the beginning of the third season of The War Within. This means not only a new raid and new PvP ratings, but also a new pool of dungeons that you can play in Mythic+. This season’s 8 dungeons are:
- The Halls of Atonement (Shadowlands)
- Tazavesh: Wondrous Roads (Shadowlands)
- Tazavesh: So’leah’s Move (Shadowlands)
- Ara-Kara, City of Echoes
- The Morning Bringers
- Priory of the Holy Flame
- Operation: Lock
- Biodome Al’dani (New)
What is also new here is that Leavers
finally get a penalty. Because leaving Mythic+ prematurely will mark you as an account that you might not want to trust.
What else is in patch 11.2?
Apart from the big highlights, patch 11.2 also brings a number of small things. Role-playing game fans get a new emote that looks pretty sexy, especially on pandaren. In addition, there are a number of small things and improvements, including:
- Depths now show which variant is active on the world map.
- Patch 11.2 will feature a permanent enhancement rune.
- A new potion allows all characters to use the Night Elf ability “Shadow Mimicry”, which is supposed to create more fairness in dungeons.
- Nexus Princess Ky’veza is the new Deep final boss in Season 3.
- Dungeons now have clear “checkpoints” in the form of large stones that clearly indicate where you appear when the ghost is released.
