ID@Xbox: Everything Shown Off at Xbox’s Indie Showcase

Microsoft’s recent ID@Xbox showcase highlighted a range of exciting indie games coming to Xbox platforms. While not all titles are exclusive, Xbox aimed to showcase a selection of the many indie gems awaiting players.

Karateka

This wasn’t just another game reveal; Digital Eclipse announced a series called “Gold Master Series,” starting with The Making of Karateka. This interactive documentary focuses on the classic 8-bit 1984 action game. Expect multiple playable versions of the original, alongside video interviews with the creator, Jordan Mechner, and unreleased prototypes. Fans of retro gaming will surely appreciate this project. Its planned release is later this year.

Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients

Colombian developer C2 Game Studio’s debut project, Monolith: Requiem of the Ancients, is an open-world action game. Promising an engaging combat system, this game promises a fulfilling experience, ensuring long hours of play for those who enjoy such a genre. Look forward to its release sometime next year.

Stray Souls

This indie horror title, initially announced in 2021, is one of several games leveraging Unreal Engine 5. Developed by Jukai Studio, Stray Souls tells the story of Daniel, whose inherited house quickly becomes a terrifying nightmare after sunset. Players can anticipate a deep psychological horror experience that’s sure to keep them on the edge of their seats. Its scheduled release is this Fall.

Axiom Verge 2

The highly anticipated sequel, Axiom Verge 2, is confirmed for Xbox release. Available from launch day, this Metroidvania-style game, which reviewers found compelling to explore, may not satisfy players who are expecting cutting-edge boss battles. With its release already underway, the game has met with a favourable reception.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

From Gun Interactive (creators of Friday the 13th: The Game) comes another asymmetrical multiplayer horror game based on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. This game provides an experience similar to Friday the 13th: The Game and Dead by Daylight. Fans of the horror genre can look forward to this game being available on Xbox Game Pass on launch day (August 18).

Hellboy Web of Wyrd

Hellboy Web of Wyrd, announced at the 2022 Game Awards, is a roguelike developed by Upstream Arcade. This showcase provided a new trailer and deeper insight into its gameplay mechanics, highlighting its unique approach. This reveals a visually appealing experience.

MythForce

This upcoming online multiplayer co-op game, MythForce, is set to hit Xbox, PC, PlayStation, and Switch on September 12. The ID@Xbox showcase showcased its colorful Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic. This game’s release date marks an exciting opportunity for co-op gamers to experience a bright and engaging adventure.
