The Plunderstorm mode in World of Warcraft is back. New rewards, a lot of chaos and a divided community beckon.

When World of Warcraft tries something completely new, the community is usually divided. This was also the case with Plunderstorm mode – a PvP mode for WoW that offers lots of cool pirate rewards. As of today (15.02.2025), the mode is active again, and you can immerse yourself in the looting action once again. Don’t forget, you can Buy WOW Gold to gear up and make the most of this exciting event!

What is the mode about?

Plunderstorm is the WoW version of a Battle Royale, so to speak. You will be thrown, either solo or in small teams, into a slightly modified variant of the Arathi Highlands. There you collect a lot of loot, but also skills and fight only with these exclusive skills in PvP battles. Fairness is not necessarily important here – because when two fight each other, you can often come in as a third party to eliminate both (and be killed by a fourth shortly afterwards).

The mode is drastically different from the WoW gameplay you’re used to, so it might take a bit of getting used to it.

What’s new?

Some rewards are new. The well-known pirate set from last time is now also available in a black coloring, which further enhances the “evil pirate” look. There are also two new mounts and 2 battle pets, so there’s something for everyone.

Also new is the type of prize. Because you no longer have to fill a new glory faction. Instead, you can spend Plunder in the “Plunder Store” and buy exactly what you want – so you have full control over what you earn.

As usual, you can’t lose your loot. All the “junk” you collect during a game is also kept – even if you are eliminated from the game and defeated. So every match brings progress, no matter how far you get.

Until when is the mode active?

The mode will remain active for 5 weeks and will disappear on February 18, 2025. This should also be around the time when the next big WoW patch 11.1 Lorenhalt is expected.

What about the old rewards?

Those who were unable to participate in Plunderstorm mode last year can earn the rewards this time. Because all old rewards can also be bought in the “Plunder Store”. If you already own these rewards, you have to play less to get everything – because “only” the new rewards are of course earned much faster than the old and new ones at the same time.

Cortyn says: To be honest, I was really looking forward to this mode – almost a little more than the next big patch. Like the first time, the Plunderstorm mode will divide the community this time. While some are really looking forward to the mode – like me and taking a few days off especially for it – others can’t do anything with it and will get upset again that they have to “play” the mode to get the rewards.

As always, World of Warcraft can’t please everyone. But I still hope that everyone who is looking forward to the mode will have fun with it in the next few weeks.
