A bitter moment for a World of Warcraft player. Shortly before the release of the new shop mount, he spent 9,999,999 gold.
In World of Warcraft, one thing in particular caused a sensation a few days ago: The release of a new mount in the game’s shop, for a whopping 78 €. Not only the price is steep, but also the features are quite interesting, because the “Gold-Adorned Dealer Brutosaurus” has a built-in auction house and a mailbox.
“The only alternative to this is an old mount, which is very rare in the Black Market auction house, often listed at an even higher price. It’s bitter that a customer bought exactly this alternative on the same day. Buy WOW Gold now to stay ahead and secure the rarest items when they’re available!”
What happened?
In the WoW subreddit, feminineambience published a screenshot from the black market auction house of its own realm. It shows the reins of the mighty Caravan Brutosaurus – with a current bid of 9,999,999 gold. This means that someone bought the Brutosaurus immediately before Blizzard offered the much cheaper version in the shop.
Because offers in the auction house can no longer be withdrawn – if you bid, you have already spent the money, unless someone outbids the bid. However, this is not possible with Goldcap. You always win there.
How big is the loss?
If you convert the price of the two mounts into WoW gold and then the price of the WoW token, that’s steep.
- The new “Gold-Adorned Dealer Brutosaurus” was initially available for 1.8 million gold – i.e. 78 euros.
- The “Mighty Caravan Brutosaurus”, on the other hand, costs 9,999,999 gold, which corresponds to a price of 442 euros.
So the difference is 364 euros – or a little more, i.e. 8,200,000 gold.
The incident was probably not an isolated case, after all, all realms have their own black market auction house with random offers. It is likely that the “old AH mount” was offered on several realms and several struck shortly before the new Dino was revealed in the shop.
Is the gold really “lost”?
That probably depends on the individual case. If it is only about the function of the auction house, then one can clearly speak of a large loss, although it is also not clear how much gold the late buyer actually owns. He may be one of the great “auction house masters” who have the gold cap on several characters.
However, the Caravan Brutosaurus also has an ideal value for many collectors. After all, it is one of the most expensive and exclusive mounts in the game, which is now only available through the Black Market auction house.
