Who is Vantage in Apex Legends?
Apex Legends’ newest legend, Vantage, was released with Season 14 Hunted on August 9th. She is a sniper-focused legend with the ability to pinpoint enemies through smoke and a pet named Echo that allows her to reposition or push knockdown enemies. Vantage is the new legend that players can try in Apex Legends right now.
What are the abilities of Vantage?
Vantage is a survivalist sniper reconnaissance character with a kit that specializes in gathering information about the enemy before striking. Let’s take a closer look at her abilities:
Passive: Spotter’s Lens
When you ADS (Aim Down Sight) unarmed or on any long-range scopes, Vantage’s passive ability, called Spotter’s Lens, is activated. This ability gives you a rough idea of where the enemies are and shows you what kind of armor they are wearing. It also helps you determine where her sniper bullet will drop, making landing sniper shots on long distances easier.
Tactical (Q): Echo Relocation
With Vantage’s Tactical ability, Echo Relocation, you can send her winged companion, Echo, to a specific location and then fly towards it. This ability provides decent mobility for repositioning into high grounds or pushing enemies. However, you need to have a line of sight before launching Echo, so you can’t fly through walls like some other legends can.
Ultimate (Z): Sniper’s Mark
Vantage’s ultimate ability is Sniper’s Mark. It is a custom-made sniper rifle that marks enemies if you hit them, giving them an additional 15% damage. This ability is great for marking down enemies while your teammates push. What makes her ultimate unique is that it has five bullets that regenerate over time. It can be your go-to ultimate ability if you need one more accurate shot when you run out of ammo. However, enemies will know if you aim down sight because of the huge lasers following them, which could give away your position.
Tips to Play Vantage, Apex Legends New Legend
Playing as Vantage can be enjoyable as you can provide a lot of information for your team and land long-range shots. Here are some tips to keep in mind when playing this new legend:
- Carry Ultimate Accelerants as Vantage to provide two charges for your ultimate ability. Using charge towers will provide you with the entire five shots, which is beneficial in the early game.
- Call back Echo whenever you’re not using it. Since Echo always follows you, its presence may alert enemies to your proximity.
- Make use of Vantage’s sniper rifle early on, as it can kill opponents in two shots when they have a level 1 EVO shield.
- Vantage is particularly deadly with sniper rifles like the Longbow or Sentinel, as her bullet drop indicator helps you always know where to place your crosshairs. Additionally, consider running close and medium-range weapons such as the G7 Scout, Triple Take, or 30-30 Repeater for versatile engagement options.
Overall, Vantage is an exciting legend to play, especially for beginners. However, she may not be as viable in competitive gameplay compared to some other legends in the meta. Her ultimate ability serves as a third weapon, and her mobility skill may not be as effective in fast-paced gunfights. Nonetheless, Vantage is beginner-friendly, and her kit is straightforward.
