With Season 6, the developers of Diablo 4 are changing how progress works in the ARPG. Diablo boss Rod Fergusson compares the extent to the changes in Season 4 to the loot system.

Season 6 starts on October 8 and changes the progression system in Diablo 4, including the difficulty levels. Previously, there was often criticism of the world levels from the community, which Blizzard is throwing completely overboard. But the level system also changes fundamentally.Buy Diablo 4 Gold to enhance your gaming experience and stay ahead as the game evolves with new updates and challenges!

What is Blizzard changing in progress?

Due to the change in the difficulty levels, leveling takes place fundamentally differently. You no longer wander from world level to world level, but unlock the next difficulty levels in the pit.

Specifically, the following aspects of Diablo 4’s level system will change

  • the maximum level changes from level 100 to level 60.
  • the Paragon levels are then separated from the character levels; Paragon Points are shared with all your characters on a realm.
  • there is a “Stats Squish.” In concrete terms, this means that there should no longer be such huge, confusing figures when it comes to claims, for example. In general, this should provide a better overview and more pleasant leveling.

The stats in the character overview were also much smaller on the PTR than players currently know from Diablo 4. A pop-up window also revealed that the armor cap will then only be 1,000. Currently, the cap for armor has been reached at 9,230.

Why is Fergusson comparing this to Season 4?

In Season 4, there were massive changes to the loot system. The goal was to have fewer item drops, but they should be of better quality. Since then, there has been a smaller pool of affixes, but they are more appropriate and stronger.

To do this, the Aspects moved into the Code of Power and no longer clog your chests. In addition, two new crafting systems came into play: Hardening and Consummation. This should give players a sense of progress. Overall, the changes were so extensive that players thought: Diablo 4 feels like a new game.

In Season 6, Blizzard is basically throwing the entire system of how leveling and difficulty levels work in Diablo 4 overboard – and thus core mechanics of the ARPG.

Diablo boss Rod Fergusson says in an interview with VGC:

What we like to say is: What Season 4 did for the loot system, Season 6 does for progression. Players will see a lot of really interesting changes in how we handle the Paragon system, difficulty, and leveling. We’re really looking forward to players experiencing all of these new features in Season 6.

The developers are planning a livestream in which they explain what Season 6 specifically brings to the game. The season is available to all players, whether they own the “Vessel of Hatred” expansion or not, Rod Fergusson emphasizes in the interview.

The Season 6 test on the PTR was well received by players and experts. Especially the bases were praised as a “new” option for leveling, but also the changes to the pit. But there was also criticism. For example, two experts think that the new difficulty levels in Diablo 4 are too easy. The Torment levels in particular were announced harder than they were on the PTR. To what extent Blizzard will make changes in this regard remains to be seen.
