Lies of P: Motivation vs. Technique

All Lies of P Stats

Lies of P features six combat stats that significantly impact your character build and gameplay. Each level-up provides a limited number of points to distribute, requiring careful consideration of which stats to prioritize based on your desired playstyle. Here are the combat stats in Lies of P:

  • Vitality: Increases maximum HP, improves Guard Regain, and enhances defense against various damage types.
  • Vigor: Increases maximum Stamina, allowing for more attacks, runs, and dodges, and improves defense against damage types.
  • Capacity: Increases weight limit, maximum ammo capacity for “Legion Arms,” and defense against damage types.
  • Motivity: Boosts damage dealt by weapons and Legion Arms with Motivity Scaling, favoring heavier, slower equipment, and improves defense against damage types.
  • Technique: Increases damage output of weapons and Legion Arms with Technique Scaling, favoring lighter, faster equipment, and improves defense against damage types.
  • Advance: Raises maximum ammo capacity, augments damage of weapons and Legion Arms with Advance Scaling, and increases resistance to status effects.

Among all these stats, Motivity and Technique have the most significant impact on your playstyle, dictating your build and overall gameplay. Understanding their differences will help you focus on the stats that best suit your chosen path.

Motivity vs Technique

Motivity, often referred to as Strength (STR), and Technique, similar to Dexterity (DEX), are core attributes defining your build path in Lies of P. They influence various aspects of your character, leading to distinct gameplay styles. Here’s a basic breakdown:

  • Motivity: Emphasizes damage dealing, damage resistance, and proficiency with heavier, slower weapons and armor, relying on blocking and counterattacks.
  • Technique: Focuses on stamina, concentration, agility, and proficiency with lighter, faster weapons, favoring dodging and quick strikes.

While these attributes have clear preferences, there are balanced weapons that utilize both stats, offering some flexibility in building a hybrid character. However, the effectiveness of these weapons is often tied to a particular build path.

Paths for Motivity vs Technique

Lies of P offers three distinct build paths, each with varying preferences for Motivity and Technique, allowing you to tailor your character to your preferred playstyle.

Path of the Cricket

This balanced path utilizes both Motivity and Technique, making it the most beginner-friendly option. It offers flexibility in investing points and is considered the best choice for most players due to its versatility.

Path of the Bastard

This speed-focused path leans heavily on Technique, prioritizing stamina and agility for frequent dodging and mobility. It sacrifices raw damage output for increased defense and maneuverability, offering a more defensive playstyle.

Path of the Sweeper

This STR-based path heavily favors Motivity, enabling powerful blows with slower, heavier weapons. It prioritizes damage and resistance, requiring a more strategic approach to combat with less reliance on dodging.

Respecc Is An Option

While choosing a build path at the start, you can later specialize in another one if you desire. Lies of P allows players to respec their build after reaching Chapter VII of the main story. This provides the freedom to explore different playstyles and experiment with various weapon and armor combinations.

Whether you embrace the power of Motivity or the agility of Technique, Lies of P allows you to tailor your character to your preferred playstyle and conquer the challenges of this dark and twisted world. Understanding the nuances of each attribute will help you create a build that suits your combat preferences and ensures a satisfying and rewarding journey as the puppet Pinocchio.
