Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Ver. 1.2.0 Patch Notes
Nintendo has unveiled the upcoming February update for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, promising improvements and fixes for the game. While no specific release date has been given, fans can anticipate a patch that addresses many of the issues that plagued the game since its initial launch.
Feature Adjustments
This update focuses heavily on streamlining the Pokémon management experience. The most notable improvements center around the Pokémon Boxes, significantly enhancing player convenience:
- Enhanced Box Functionality: Players can now modify Pokémon details within the summary screen, including nicknames, markings, held items, and Ribbon-related titles. Moving Pokémon and items within Boxes will be smoother, with features like reordering moves, teaching and forgetting moves, and using TMs now integrated directly into the box interface. This greatly simplifies the management of a large collection of Pokémon.
- Streamlined Item Swapping: Changing held items is now facilitated by pressing the Y button in the held items view.
- Bulk Actions: Players can select multiple boxes simultaneously for bulk management of Pokémon or items in the Party and Boxes/Held Items view. This makes transferring large numbers of Pokémon or items significantly more efficient.
- Battle Team Clarity: Pokémon assigned to Battle Teams now have darkened icons within the Battle Team view, enabling players to more easily identify their team members.
- Improved Online Connection Information: Connecting to the internet from the main menu or the Poké Portal now displays News information on the screen.
Bug Fixes
The update also tackles a number of reported bugs across various game modes, addressing reported issues that have negatively impacted gameplay and overall user experience. These fixes cover critical areas of the game.
Tera Raid Battles
- Accurate HP Tracking: The HP gauge of opposing Tera Pokémon will now accurately reflect damage received, preventing inaccurate readings from status effects or particular moves.
- Preventing Faint Cascades: A glitch causing all Pokémon on one side to simultaneously faint in certain Tera Raids, despite showing health, is resolved.
- Input Issues: Input delays or locks when dealing with Tera Pokémon during Tera Raid Battles will be fixed.
- Mismatched Pokémon: Players joining Tera Raids will now encounter the intended Tera Pokémon and not experience mismatches due to communication errors.
- Crystal Disappearances: Tera Raid crystals that intermittently vanish will now reliably appear in the proper locations.
Battles
- Type Matchups (Double Battles): The type matchups displayed in Double Battles will accurately reflect the type of Pokémon on the field, not that of fainted or previously selected Pokémon.
- Zoroark Illusion Accuracy: Zoroark’s illusions will correctly register as Zoroark for accurate type matchups, resolving the bug that sometimes incorrectly displayed the type matchups based on the disguised Pokémon.
- Dondozo Order Up: The stat increases from Dondozo using Order Up will now properly function based on the type of opponent; the bug that caused stat boosts in unaffected situations has been fixed.
- Destiny Bond and Terastallization: The effects of Destiny Bond will correctly activate when a Terastallized Pokémon faints.
Other
- Game Closures: Locations causing game crashes are fixed. This potentially addresses issues with population density in certain areas.
- National Dex Pokémon in Paldea Pokédex: National Dex Pokémon appearing incorrectly in the Paldea Pokédex will be fixed.
- Expression Glitches: The main character’s expressions will now accurately reflect in-game events, resolving issues where the expressions didn’t update dynamically.
- Ranked Battles Communication Error: Resolved communication issues after a Ranked Battles season, preventing players from accessing Ranked Battles following season rewards.
- Master Rank Ribbon: The bug preventing the Master Rank Ribbon from awarding correctly after Ranked Battle participation is fixed.
- Link Trade Commands: Pokémon received via Link Trade will now correctly respond to player commands, based on the stated level-based command functionality.
- Missing Pokédex Entries: Bugs causing missing Pokédex entries for certain Pokémon will be addressed.
- Unintentional Items: Random items appearing unintentionally in the game world are fixed.
- Passersby in Battles: Passersby will no longer appear during certain main story battles in towns.
This comprehensive update addresses the most pressing issues reported by players, providing improvements to gameplay and the overall user experience. While the exact release date remains uncertain, it promises to further enhance the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet experience.
