Pokémon Go: Level 80 XP Leaked, Some Fans Say Too Easy

Pokémon Go Rebalanced XP Requirements:

Pokémon Go is set to raise its level cap to 80, marking the first increase in five years. Accompanying this change is a rebalancing of XP requirements, which will significantly alter the leveling landscape. Many players will find themselves catapulted to higher levels, possibly exceeding the XP needed to reach level 80 immediately. This adjustment aims to make the game more accessible to newcomers, reducing the grind required to reach the endgame.

  • Level 10: 48,000 total XP
  • Level 20: 258,000 total XP
  • Level 30: 1,083,000 total XP
  • Level 40: 3,953,000 total XP
  • Level 50: 12,753,000 total XP
  • Level 60: 34,353,000 total XP
  • Level 70: 85,853,000 total XP
  • Level 80: 203,353,000 total XP

Comparing the new XP totals to the current system highlights the extent of the rebalance. Currently, reaching level 50 demands a staggering 176 million XP. Under the revised system, level 50 will require a mere 12.75 million XP. This means the new level 80 cap requires only approximately 27 million more XP than what is currently needed to reach level 50, which is a significant decrease. This change is aimed at leveling the playing field for newer players.

Pokémon Go Level 71-80 Level Up Tasks

While players will experience an XP boost, reaching level 80 will not be automatic. As with previous level cap increases, players will need to complete a set of tasks for each level from 71 to 80. These tasks, however, have been met with mixed reactions from the community. Some players feel that the challenges are too easy, while others appreciate the lack of overly restrictive or time-gated requirements.

The tasks generally involve earning platinum medals, powering up Pokémon, making specific types of throws, and completing various in-game activities. While some tasks, like purifying Shadow Pokémon, may take time, most can be accomplished with strategic planning and dedicated gameplay. The absence of artificial delays, such as needing to catch a Pokémon on 30 separate days, is a welcome change for many players, allowing for faster progression.

While the rebalancing and new tasks aim to make the game more accessible, some veteran players have voiced concerns about the lack of challenge. Some are sitting on massive amounts of XP, easily surpassing the new requirements for level 80. They feel the tasks are too repetitive and can be completed quickly, removing the sense of accomplishment and motivation to continue playing. They had hoped for new types of medals or goals that would push them beyond their limits, but instead, they see the changes as catering primarily to beginners.
