Hello Games Update 6.3 patch notes:

The Holo-Arena and Creature Battles

The Xeno Arena update introduces a revolutionary turn-based tactical combat system focused entirely on alien creatures. Players can now form battle teams from their adopted companions, engaging in simulated fights against alien trainers or fellow Travellers. Each creature possesses a unique array of battle moves, including powerful attacks, healing abilities, stunning maneuvers, defensive shields, and various status effects, all influenced by their species and native environment. During combat, companions might demonstrate exceptional agility by dodging incoming attacks, execute bonus actions, or land critical blows. Participating in these thrilling battles allows creatures to gain valuable experience, enhancing their combat capabilities over time. Furthermore, a new genetic modification interface allows players to upgrade their companions’ agility, health, and combat traits, tailoring them for peak performance. Multiplayer Holo-Arena tables are now available at the Space Anomaly, fostering player-versus-player challenges, while similar arenas at planetary outposts, archives, and space stations offer opportunities to test skills against NPC lifeforms, with seasoned system champions providing tougher challenges and greater rewards. A new NPC, Iteration: Oceanus, will guide players through the basics of creature battling and the Arena League, offering daily challenges for ongoing engagement.

The Arena League

A brand new competitive structure, the Arena League, has been incorporated into the game, visible within the Catalogue & Guide. This league offers players a robust progression system, featuring five distinct tiers of ranked medals to achieve. Accompanying these medals are dedicated guidance missions designed to help Travellers navigate the challenges and strategies of creature combat. As players ascend through the ranks, they can unlock a selection of special titles, allowing them to proudly display their accomplishments within the Xeno Arena community. Beyond prestige, the Arena League also provides access to a collection of unique creature companions, obtainable only as rewards for reaching significant milestones within the competitive circuit. These exclusive creatures offer both powerful additions to any battle team and rare trophies for dedicated trainers, making participation in the league a highly rewarding endeavor for those seeking to master the art of alien creature combat.

Creature Survey Mode

To assist Travellers in their pursuit of the perfect battle team, the Xeno Arena update introduces a dedicated Creature Survey mode within the Analysis Visor. This enhanced mode provides critical intelligence about the fauna encountered across the galaxy. When activated, the visor will display relevant markers pointing to nearby creatures, making it easier to locate potential recruits or opponents. More importantly, targeting any fauna with the Analysis Visor in this mode will now reveal crucial battle-specific traits alongside their standard species information. This includes details about their combat abilities, elemental affinities, and potential strengths or weaknesses, enabling players to make informed decisions about which creatures to recruit, breed, or challenge. This deepens the strategic element of exploration, transforming every wildlife encounter into an opportunity to scout for valuable additions to one’s arena roster or to prepare for upcoming battles by understanding adversary capabilities.

Stability and Optimisation

The latest update brings a host of significant performance enhancements across various platforms. Nintendo Switch 2 users will experience up to a 15% improvement in rendering performance, ensuring a smoother gameplay experience. PC players benefit from newly implemented tiled lighting, which substantially boosts GPU performance, especially noticeable at higher resolutions. General CPU performance has also seen considerable optimization related to lighting calculations. Players with extensive farm bases will observe a significant performance improvement when interacting with large quantities of harvestable plants. Inventory management has been streamlined, leading to better performance in all instances where inventory contents are queried, such as during missions or when assessing ship stats. Viewing a Companion Register with numerous creatures is now much faster, as is the display of UI notifications for adopting new companions. Further optimizations have been applied to the Analysis Visor and scanner technologies, along with the rendering of planetary objects. Crucially, a number of rare crashes, particularly on Nintendo Switch platforms, have been addressed, enhancing overall game stability.

QOL and Bug Fixes

Beyond the major new features, Update 6.3 delivers numerous quality of life improvements and crucial bug fixes. Players will no longer experience erratic camera rotation when standing on corvettes or issues interacting with modules on other players’ corvettes. Visual inconsistencies with asteroids fading in and out have been resolved. Critical fixes address save game problems for PC users with non-ASCII Windows usernames and prevent erroneous Cross-Save conflict dialogs on consoles. Missing interaction points in some planetary buildings have been corrected, and a dialogue inaccuracy involving Artemis in The Purge mission has been patched. The system for opening the inventory to the most relevant screen during missions has been refined for better context. An issue where the Exploration Log incorrectly counted extinct species has been fixed. Twitch and Expedition rewards will now correctly reflect their redeemed status. The Egg Sequencer can now conveniently access eggs stored in a nearby Freighter inventory. UI enhancements include improved clarity for medal selection in Journey Milestones and better appearance of 4K UI textures. Visual bugs such as incorrect labels at the Egg Sequencer, invisible rare crystal fauna, and companion accessory attachments appearing on wild creatures have been resolved. Planetary trees on Nintendo Switch and in VR, along with lighting at Waste Processing Plants, have also seen visual improvements. Player model clipping with Autophage arms and corvette cockpits has been addressed, as well as an issue causing regular companion eggs to hatch into metal pieces. Finally, an audio issue with the Space Anomaly’s Appearance Modifier has been fixed, alongside miscellaneous text corrections, contributing to a more polished and enjoyable gameplay experience.
