New Borderlands, Tiny Tina, & Brothers in Arms games revealed.

Which Unannounced Gearbox Game Would You Be Most Interested in Playing?

Over the weekend, a developer at Gearbox’s support studio, Lost Boys Interactive, accidentally leaked information about a few unannounced games. They included Borderlands 4, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2, and a new Brothers in Arms game. All three games were reportedly being developed using Unreal Engine 4.

Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 is the most likely of the three to survive the current restructuring at Gearbox’s parent company, Embracer Group. The Borderlands franchise has always been popular and lucrative for Gearbox, and Borderlands 3 was a massive success. It was released in 2019 and received rave reviews, including a 9/10 from iGV, who called it “amazing with an arsenal of weapons, humor, and missions.”

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2 is less likely to survive the purge at Embracer. While the first game was a successful spin-off, and Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford stated that “future experiences are already under development,” the current financial climate is uncertain. The first game received a respectable 8/10 from iGV, who praised its “hilarious, action-packed, and ridiculous” nature, but ultimately, it was a relatively small release in the Borderlands franchise.

Unannounced Brothers in Arms Game

The most uncertain of the three is the unannounced Brothers in Arms game. This would be the first new entry in the World War II shooter series since 2008’s Hell’s Highway. Gearbox initially planned to release a new Brothers in Arms game called Furious 4, but it was eventually scrapped and turned into the unsuccessful Battleborn. While Pitchford has stated that a new Brothers in Arms game was in the works, it never materialized, and with the current state of Embracer, its future is uncertain.

  • Borderlands 4: Seems likely to survive the Embracer restructuring due to its popularity and success.
  • Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands 2: Less certain, as the first game was a smaller spin-off despite being well-received.
  • Unannounced Brothers in Arms Game: The most precarious of the three, as the series has been dormant for a while.

It is important to note that the information about these unannounced games is based on a leaked LinkedIn post, and Gearbox has not officially confirmed their development. Given the current situation at Embracer, it is possible that some or all of these projects have been cancelled. Ultimately, only time will tell what the future holds for these games.
