Sony Announces PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for May 2025
Sony has unveiled the PlayStation Plus free games lineup for May 2025. Available from May 6th to June 2nd, players can download and enjoy Ark: Survival Ascended, Balatro, and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun.
Ark: Survival Ascended | PS5
Embark on a thrilling survival adventure in Ark: Survival Ascended. This reimagined survival sim, powered by Unreal Engine 5, delivers stunning visuals and a robust physics engine. Players can explore vast landscapes, tame and breed a wide variety of creatures, including dinosaurs. With extensive content including the popular Scorched Earth, Aberration, and Extinction worlds, there’s a world waiting for players to discover, build, and fight their way to the top of the food chain. The game supports up to 70 players in online multiplayer, 8 players in private sessions, and 2 players in local split-screen.
Balatro | PS5, PS4
Dive into a poker-inspired roguelike deck builder in Balatro. This strategic experience challenges players to create powerful synergies using poker hands and unique joker cards. Success hinges on skillfully combining hands, and uncovering hidden bonuses. Players need to earn enough chips to beat powerful blinds and ultimately secure victory by reaching the boss blind and winning the final ante.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun | PS5, PS4
Experience classic, fast-paced FPS action with Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. This game blends the iconic Warhammer 40,000 universe with the stylish visuals of classic 90’s shooters. Players take on the role of a Space Marine, battling Chaos Space Marines and daemons in a visually striking, frantic shooting experience. Players can engage in fierce combat across expansive levels, utilizing a powerful arsenal to dispatch enemies, showcasing the game’s satisfying gameplay.
It’s important to note that while speculation surrounded the potential inclusion of Until Dawn, the game was absent from the official May 2025 lineup. Conversely, several other titles are set to depart the PS Plus library next month, including the popular Grand Theft Auto V, Payday 2, and the last playable versions of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. This marks a significant shift in the PS Plus free game offerings.
This month’s additions reflect a focus on diverse gameplay styles, appealing to different preferences, showcasing the continued evolution of the PS Plus service.
