Understand how abilities work
One of the first things you need to understand in Punishing: Gray Raven is how abilities work. You’ll notice circles, or orbs, on your screen during combat. These come in red, yellow, and blue, representing the different abilities of your Construct.
Tapping a single orb will inflict some damage, but if you trigger it while it’s next to another orb of the same color, you can dramatically increase the strength of your attack. Triggering three orbs of the same color unleashes a “ping,” a powerful attack.
Another important concept is the “matrix.” This state is triggered by perfectly dodging an enemy attack. While in the matrix, even a single-orb attack will deal damage equivalent to a ping, significantly turning the tide of battle.
Make the best use of black cards
Black cards are a crucial currency in Punishing: Gray Raven, allowing you to access various resources and upgrades. You can convert them into:
- Basic Construct R&D Ticket: These are used to research and develop Constructs for your Executor Squad.
- Event Construct R&D Ticket: These allow you to research stronger and rarer S-ranked Constructs.
- Target Weapon R&D Ticket: These are used to research and upgrade weapons for your characters.
You can acquire black cards through daily or weekly tasks, completing stories, participating in limited-time events, and by topping up your PGR account.
Understanding the different Constructs
Punishing: Gray Raven features a diverse cast of Constructs, each with unique skills, abilities, and designs. This variety keeps the gameplay exciting and fresh. Constructs are categorized based on their roles:
- Support: These Constructs don’t engage in direct combat but play a crucial role in battle by providing healing and buffs for their teammates.
- Tank: Tanks are built to withstand damage, drawing enemy attention and protecting attackers.
- Attacker: Attackers are the damage dealers, responsible for dealing the most damage to enemies and securing victory for their team.
Experiment with different Constructs to discover your favorite playstyles and build a well-rounded team.
Navigating the Story Menu
The story menu in Punishing: Gray Raven can seem overwhelming at first, but it’s divided into two sections:
- Main Story Chapters: These chapters follow the main narrative of the game, where you fight to reclaim Earth from the Corrupted, humanoid creatures infected by the Punishing Virus.
- Interlude: This section reveals the backstories of the Constructs on the Gray Raven team, offering insights into their past experiences and motivations.
Exploring the Interlude provides a deeper understanding of the characters and adds emotional depth to the overall narrative.
Keep an eye out for the different missions
