How to Unlock New Cars in Need for Speed Unbound
Most cars in NFS Unbound are unlocked through the story progression. However, there are a few cars that can be unlocked through the completion of challenges. These require you to collect or smash all collectibles, and you’ll get a car for each collectible you complete, and an extra car for completing all seven collectibles.
To unlock custom cars, you need to do a few jobs for Rydell, called Rydell’s Rides. As you drive around the city, Rydell may call you and task you with collecting a car. Once that car is delivered, it will be unlocked for purchase.

Enhance Nitrous Bursts for Cars
You can build up bursts of nitrous on top of the normal nitrous boost in your car. These bursts can be used for overtaking rivals or ramming cops to wreck them. To build up these bursts, you can:
- Draft Other Cars: Follow directly in the slipstream of another car to build up bursts quickly. This technique is great for overtaking maneuvers.
- Drift: Performing drifts also contributes to filling your burst meter.
- Go Airborne: Jumping ramps and performing aerial maneuvers will build up bursts.
- Wreck Cops or Rivals: Wrecking cops or rivals will grant you three burst segments.
Take Advantage of the High Ground
To get away quicker in Need for Speed Unbound, aim for the high ground. Utilize ramps, train tracks, or any unconventional routes cops won’t use. By getting above them, your heat level will go down faster, allowing you to escape the police more easily.
