The Reason for Levelling Up the Tripods
Tripods significantly enhance your character’s abilities in Lost Ark. Each skill, upon reaching level 10, allows for the activation of three tripods, which provide powerful modifications. However, the true potential lies in leveling up these tripods. Higher tripod levels amplify the effects, offering substantial boosts to damage, cooldown reduction, and other beneficial attributes.
In Tier 3, gear pieces come with tripod effects, each piece having up to three. Upgrading a tripod from level 1 to level 5 can double the benefit it provides. While acquiring desired tripods is random, the potential boost to your character’s skills makes the investment worthwhile. Consider the time investment as a journey towards a more potent and customized combat style, optimizing your character’s performance in various encounters.
Select the Best Tripods
Identifying and prioritizing the most beneficial tripods is crucial for effective character progression. Focus on leveling up the tripods that are integral to your skill build, avoiding those that you rarely use. With numerous tripods available for each class, it can be challenging to discern the best options. To simplify this, use the skill menu to track the specific tripods you wish to enhance.
Open the skill menu and click settings, then select skills used, and click on tripods to level up. This feature allows you to monitor your desired tripods easily. When a gear drop contains one of your saved tripods, a small icon will appear, allowing you to quickly identify and prioritize these items. This will streamline your decision-making and prevent you from accidentally discarding valuable gear.
Break Down the Tripod System
The tripod system can be initially confusing. Mastering it unlocks the ability to finely tune your character’s skills. Each tripod can reach a maximum level of 5, with the tripod levels on gear drops appearing randomly. Strive to use the highest level tripods. The two primary methods for managing tripods are saving them to your inventory and transferring them between gear pieces.
Save Your Tripods
The “Save to Inventory” function provides a risk-free method for preserving desired tripod configurations. Visit the Transfer Skill Tree NPC and select the inventory tab. Click on the gear piece you wish to save. Then, click on “Save in Inventory” at the bottom. This will store the existing tripod setup on that gear piece. This is invaluable when transferring honing levels to new gear as it allows you to reapply the same tripod setup after the transfer is complete. You can only save tripods to the same gear slot that you saved them in.
You can easily reapply the saved tripod setup to another piece of gear of the same type, replacing any existing tripods. Multiple presets can be saved using the tabs at the top, facilitating different builds or situations. This inventory system is free and has a 100% success chance, guaranteeing your desired tripod combination will be retained for future use.
Transfer Specific Tripods
The “Transfer” function allows you to move individual tripods from one gear piece to another. This is useful for upgrading a specific tripod on a piece of gear that has other undesirable tripods. Visit the Transfer Skill Tree NPC and select the “Transfer” tab. Select the source gear, choose the tripod you want to move, and then select the destination gear.
Be aware that the source gear will be destroyed during the transfer process. There’s also an element of chance involved, with higher-level tripods having a lower base success rate. A level 1 tripod has a 100% success rate. However, level 2 tripods have significantly lower success rates, but it can be increased with Powder of Sage. Gear pieces can only have a total of three tripods equipped, and the maximum level is 5. Duplicate tripods do not stack; only the highest level takes effect.
Move Your Tripods to New Gear
Effectively transferring tripods to new gear is essential for continuous improvement. It’s important to first save your current setup as a preset. If you are using inventory transfer at the NPC, save your current preset before transferring tripods to new gear. This is to avoid losing your tripods when you transfer honing levels.
If you acquire new armor with desirable tripods, you can save them and then overwrite the tripods on your current gear (assuming they are the same type of gear). Keep an eye out for gear drops with saved tripods and make a habit of checking what new gear has so that you do not lose out on ones you want. Remember, it is impossible to transfer multiple tripods simultaneously from one piece of gear, so carefully consider how you want to move them around to create your perfect setup.
