Mega Dragonite
The reveal of Mega Dragonite marked the return of new Mega Pokémon after a long absence. This Dragon/Flying-type from Kanto receives a significant visual update. Notably, Mega Dragonite sports a grand set of wings emerging from its head. A prominent jewel adorns its tail, reminiscent of its pre-evolution, Dragonair.
Mega Evolution amplifies Dragonite’s inherent kindness. According to official descriptions, it swiftly ends battles as a mercy to opponents. It is also depicted as being quick to assist those in need, even during intense battles, showcasing its benevolent nature.
Mega Victreebell
Victreebell, another original 151 Pokémon, is getting a Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This Grass/Poison-type sees a dramatic change in its physique, with its base becoming significantly larger. This is attributed to the increased volume of corrosive acid stored within its body.
According to its official description, the leaves on its head grow larger after Mega Evolution. It flaps these leaves to move around, bouncing its expanded body. It unleashes devastating Sludge Bombs from its large mouth. Containing its potent acid becomes a challenge, requiring it to wrap its vines around its throat to prevent leakage.
Mega Hawlucha
Hawlucha, the fan-favorite Fighting/Flying-type inspired by luchadores, also gains a Mega Evolution. This is welcome news, particularly for fans hoping for a wider release of the Pokémon in Pokémon GO, where it is currently a regional exclusive.
Its Mega Evolution significantly enhances its physical prowess. It can endure a barrage of attacks with its strengthened muscles. Hawlucha uses its defensive capabilities to lure opponents into attacking, then retaliates swiftly. It shows off its beauty and tough pectoral muscles by lifting both hands and spreading its wings to put on full display.
And more to come…
Alongside these newcomers, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will bring back previously known Mega Evolutions. Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Absol, and Mega Charizard X are among those confirmed to return. Whether every existing Mega Evolution will appear in the game remains to be seen.
The game’s narrative revolves around wild Pokémon undergoing seemingly spontaneous Mega Evolution. These “Rogue Mega Pokémon” present a challenge for players. You will require the use of your own Mega Pokémon to defeat them, potentially assisted by allies from Team MZ. How Zygarde will factor into these events is still unknown.
Recent announcements align with a circulated leak listing 27 Pokémon speculated to receive new Mega Evolutions. The breakdown by region according to this rumor is:
