Sins of the Father OSRS Quest Requirements

Skill and Quest Requirements

Embarking on the Sins of the Father quest demands substantial preparation. You must first complete several preceding quests to unlock this storyline. These include Vampyre Slayer, A Taste of Hope, Darkness of Hallowvale, In Aid of the Myreque, In Search of the Myreque, Nature Spirit, Priest in Peril, and The Restless Ghost. Additionally, specific skill levels are mandatory for various quest tasks. You’ll need 62 Woodcutting, 60 Fletching, 56 Crafting, 52 Agility, 50 Slayer, 50 Attack, and 50 Magic. Ensure these prerequisites are met before beginning your quest to avoid interruptions.

Item Requirements and Recommendations

To successfully navigate the quest, several items are essential. You must bring an Axe, an Ivandis Flail, a Ruby, a Knife, a Chisel, and a Vyrewatch Outfit (or 1,950 coins to purchase one later). For magic enchantment, carry runes for level 3 Enchant, which translates to one Cosmic Rune and five Fire Runes. Beyond the strict requirements, several items are highly recommended for convenience and combat. Consider bringing at least 10,000 extra coins for transport, along with various teleports like a Teleport to Haunted Woods, Fenkenstrain’s Castle, or an Ectophial. Stamina, Energy, and Antipoison Potions will be invaluable, as will Morytania Legs 3 and Drakan’s Medallion for faster travel across Morytania.

Sins of the Father OSRS Step-by-Step Guide

To initiate this epic quest, journey to the church located in Slepe and engage in conversation with Veliaf Hurtz. Reaching Slepe can be done efficiently using a Drakan’s Medallion to teleport to Ver Sinhaza and heading north. Alternatively, an Ectophial allows teleportation to Port Phasmatys, from where you can travel south to Slepe or utilize Andras’ rowboat for a 10,000 coin fee. Upon arrival, Veliaf will brief you on the mysterious Sleeper Plague affecting the town, tasking you with investigating its cause within the church and surrounding areas.

The Church

Inside the Slepe church, seek out and speak with Hameln the Jester. He will reveal that his partner fell victim to the illness after drinking at the local pub. Proceed southeast from the church to the pub and question Carl about the suspicious beer. When Carl proves uncooperative, step outside and examine the barrel situated behind the establishment. This action will trigger a cutscene, initiating a stealth sequence where you must follow Carl into a dungeon near the town center without being detected. Maintain extreme caution, as he will periodically turn around, requiring you to find immediate cover to avoid being spotted.

Following Carl to the Dungeon

Successfully navigating the stealth segment requires careful timing and awareness. Initially, pass through the church and hide behind the northern doors until Carl advances. Continue heading north, using the trees as cover, then find refuge among the trees by the gallows in the town square. Once Carl enters the graveyard, conceal yourself behind the plants at its entrance. After completing this evasion, a cutscene will lead to a confrontation with Kroy. During the fight, remain in close proximity to Kroy; he alternates between melee and magic attacks and throws vials that can drain your stats. Activate Protect from Magic due to its higher damage potential. Crucially, before exiting the dungeon, destroy the lab tables to prevent a return trip; locate them by following the western wall.

Trekking with Ivan Strom

Following your encounter in the dungeon, report back to Veliaf, then proceed to Drezel at Paterdomus. From Fenkenstrain’s Castle, journey south to locate Ivan Strom. A subsequent cutscene introduces Vanescula Drakan, who suggests a critical meeting for the Myreque members at the Icyene graveyard. Your next objective involves accompanying Ivan Strom on the Burgh de Rott Ramble minigame, accessible west of Canifis. Ensure you have your Ivandis Flail ready before speaking to Ivan to start the journey.

The ramble involves several stages: First, use your axe or knife to cut three vines from a tree, combine them into a long vine, and swing across the water. Next, defend Ivan by fighting three nail beasts; heal him if necessary. Then, repair a broken bridge by chopping three dead trees for logs. Finally, confront two level 119 Vampyres, utilizing your Ivandis Flail while keeping Ivan safe from harm.

To the Icyene Graveyard

Upon reaching the docks after your trek, speak with Ivan to arrange passage to the Icyene Graveyard. Once there, engage in conversation with Ivan and the crew to trigger another cutscene, after which you’ll need to solve a puzzle by interacting with the mausoleum door. This puzzle challenges you to make the active numbers in each row sum to the corresponding column’s target value. The active numbers are highlighted in blue and yellow squares, and red flags can assist in marking squares you deem irrelevant. As the numbers are randomized for each player, no single solution exists. A helpful strategy is to prioritize columns with smaller target sums to narrow down possible number combinations.

Speaking to the Myreque Members

Solving the mausoleum puzzle reveals a shocking truth: Vanstrom Klause is none other than Safalaan’s vampyrified father. Your next task is to rally the Myreque. You must speak with several members in a specific sequence: start with Ivan, then proceed to Vertida Sefalatis, followed by Kael Forshaw, Radigad Ponfit, Polmafi Ferdygris, and finally, Veliaf Hurtz. Once they all agree to assist, travel to Meiyerditch. There, interact with a flying Vyrewatch to gain access to the mines. Mine 15 Daeyalt Ore and deposit it into the cart before speaking to a Vyrewatch to exit the mine. Next, locate a staircase in one of the eastern houses, descend, and speak with Safalaan. A cutscene will play, leading to a battle against a level 123 Mutated Bloodveld. Defeat it, speak to Safalaan again, then search a bookshelf in the adjacent western room for a book to give him.

The Vyre of Noble Disguise

Prepare for a formidable encounter with Damien Leucurte, a level 204 Vampyre. Ensure you’re equipped with ample Prayer, Combat, and Antipoison Potions. After preparations, return to the Icyene Graveyard boat, then head to Meiyerditch. Locate Trader Sven near Old Man Ral’s house to purchase a Vyrewatch disguise for 1,950 coins. Access the underground lair beneath Old Man Ral’s house and speak with Polmafi Ferdygris to transform your purchased disguise into a noble variant. With your noble disguise equipped, return to the Icyene Graveyard to speak with Vanescula Drakan, then find Veliaf Hurtz west of the church in Slepe. Confront Damien Leucurte at the Crombwick Manor in Slepe. He employs both ranged and magic attacks, and periodically ignites fires in the room that must be extinguished to reduce his defenses. Maintain your Antipoison Potions and wield your Ivandis Flail for effective combat. Suppressing his fires is key to victory. Following the battle, speak to Veliaf, then return to the Icyene Graveyard for another conversation with Vanescula. Your journey then leads you back to the Meiyerditch mines, although no mining is required this time.

The Arboretum

After being escorted out of the Meiyerditch mines by a Vampyre, your next destination is Darkmeyer. With your Vyre Noble Outfit, the Vyrewatch will no longer pose a threat. Navigate towards the Arboretum, identifiable by the tree icon on the map’s southeast side. A Vampyre will initially block your entry. To proceed, locate Mordan Nikazsi near the Darkmeyer entrance. His house is recognizable by a water symbol near a furnace, located along the eastern outer wall. Mordan will assign you a task to find slaves, who are held in the prison situated between the Food store and the Arboretum. Speaking with Maria Gadderanks will trigger a cutscene, after which you can enter the Arboretum. Inside, search the shelves for a crucial note. Your primary objective then becomes cutting eight logs from the Blisterwood tree. Before doing so, use the found note to discern the correct valve combination (north and south) required to restore the water flow. Once the water is flowing, proceed to cut the logs. Finally, return these logs to the Icyene Graveyard and consult with Veliaf and Vanescula to advance the quest.

The Blisterwood Flail

Head back to Old Man Ral’s house in Meiyerditch and descend into the underground lair. Ensure your inventory contains a Knife and a Chisel. Speak with Vertida Sefalatis, providing him with seven Blisterwood logs. He will instruct you on crafting a Ruby Sickle. A Silver Sickle can be found in a nearby box; use your Chisel to combine it with your Ruby. Next, you must enchant this Ruby Sickle using your Level 3 Enchant runes. Finally, combine the enchanted Ruby Sickle with one Blisterwood log and your Knife to forge the Blisterwood Sickle. The last step in weapon creation is to use this Blisterwood Sickle on your Ivandis Flail, transforming it into the powerful Blisterwood Flail. With your new weapon ready, return to the Icyene Graveyard. Engage in conversation with the Myreque members near the Mausoleum. Veliaf will then ask you to find Safalaan, who is located north of the graveyard by the water. Speak to him there, then return to the graveyard. Safalaan will express his regrets, setting the stage for the climactic final chapter of Sins of the Father.

Boss Fight: Vanstrom Klause

After a tense cutscene, prepare for the ultimate confrontation against Vanstrom Klause. This boss battle unfolds in two distinct phases. For optimal success, ensure you enter with high magic defense gear, plenty of food, and the recommended potions. A rapid ranged weapon will be highly beneficial, and the consistent use of protection prayers is crucial for survival.

The First Phase

Vanstrom’s initial phase primarily features magic attacks, so keep your magic defense high. He starts with unpredictable special attacks, but after approximately 10 normal attacks, one of his three specials will occur again. His first special summons bloodvelds; quickly eliminate them with your ranged weapon to avoid acid damage upon their explosion, and step clear of any acid pools. The second special darkens your screen; immediately turn your character away from Vanstrom to prevent significant damage. His third special involves summoning a blood orb. You have two choices: destroy the orb (which damages you but prevents Vanstrom’s healing) or lure Vanstrom into the orb to damage him instead.

The Second Phase

Transitioning into the second phase, immediately switch your protection prayer to Protect from Melee. Vanstrom will unleash a barrage of powerful lightning bolts. Circular indicators on the ground will signal where these bolts are about to strike, so react swiftly to move out of the danger zones. Maintaining constant evasion while continuing your offensive will be key to wearing him down. Stick to these strategies, and Vanstrom Klause will eventually fall, marking the successful completion of the Sins of the Father quest.
